Can't view replays

I've watched replays before, but now after downloading the battle sga and replay files to their respective folders, I start the game paused, and when you un-pause it you see the factions' starting units moving around with no starting messages, no new units arriving, and each faction base camp is visibile on the corner of the map. You see player chat messages, and nothing else happens.

Update: I've uninstalled the mod, deleted all the files I could find except for the launcher-related files, and re-installed. Now I can see units moving around the map, but they don't appear to be following the right script -- they wander around, then stop and don't move.

What's going on here? I'm going to be very aggrivated if I have to re-install the whole game from scratch.

Don't do that... most likely the replay you are trying to view was on an earlier version of EIRR. It's very hectic to try to watch replays at the beginning of a release cycle as updates come too quickly.
