Honestly- I didn't like this one too much...I mean soon it looks cool TW Is an awsome serie but their system requirements are funny...it lags like hell- although my PC ain't the toppest one but still.

The pathing was horrible I can agree on that...and the fighting with muskets...every unit is a long range one except militia...nah I'vep layed Imperial Glory and despite its bad sides I'd still play it rather than this one. (Yes Imperial Glory is almost same, map, naval combat etc and it came out way earlier than TW Empire... around 2005)
Honestly I liked Rome Total War better...In my mind Empire lacks something...well at least something heh I don't think America suits in it as a nation...if it ISN'T a nation then it is ok but if it is...sure that's then bleh. If you hnow have to conquer literally the whole world...that'll take some time.

I prefer the 8800 GT OC its the most solid card I have found, the rest have been a little crazy. Plus its really cheap for how good it is. It has the best price to performance ratio of any card I have seen.

Maybe I will get a card from the next series they pull out, but I'm good with this card for now. It works for everything I have thrown at it. The only thing holding me back is my processor, but when I finish my build I will have an epic tower. I have a shitty stock AMD brand processor. AMD is good, but this one is PoS and I'm getting Intel. Intel is better stock and AMD is better OC.

Even with my shitty 2.0 Dual core(suppose to be 2.0, but it says 1.9  Roll Eyes), this game runs great. It just lags for 10-15 seconds at the start then runs smooth, for naval battles. For land battles, I never have problems with lag. It does this for CoH with the highest settings, but it takes forever to load a game so I don't keep it on the highest(people get upset when the game takes a while to load).

P.S.- Even though I talk shit, I am still an EiR n00b.  Wink

Without taking into account the fact that the 4850 nearly has 2x performance as the 8800gt, yeah the 8800gt "was" a good option, until the 4xxx from ati were released.

Theres only 3 units for all 4 Factions. Cannonteam, Musketeers, and Horses. You can only build an army of Cannons, MUsketeers or Horses.

Anyone else get this?  I picked it up last night on my way home from work.  Started the British grand campaign and was a bit overwhelmed by the size of my empire so I switched to the Dutch for my first intro campaign.

So far so good.  I like the changes to the way buildings and technology work.  Pirates are hard!  Seems like an interesting entry in the TW series.

Can't seem to install the game.

I insert my hard copy dvd, install required steam software, register a free account, activate my serial key, and click to install.

Choose destination, then am confronted by a screen telling me they are too busy to process my request and to try back later.

Pretty amazing no?

I guess Steam is having an issue? On Wednesday I had absolutely zero problems installing my hard copy and patching it.

This game definitely needs some bug fixing (some AI bugs...I would LOVE to be able to alt-tab...the random slowdowns and poor optimization [I really shouldn't be having the slowdowns that I am]), but I'm really enjoying it...especially with this whole "tons of factions" instead of rebels thing. Any action I do is going to have consequences...it's like Total War combined with Europa/HoI!

I'm fairly confident that a lot of the bugs will be fixed...but it won't be days. It'll be quite a while unless they work faster than they did on Medieval 2.

Multiplayer battles are boring anyway, multiplayer campaign is where it's at imo.
Hope they release that soon.

Well the plus side of being on steam, is that it is much easier to patch the game.

@Iggi, when I installed my hard copy version I did the installation first, then steam asked for my CD key.  Perhaps you are doing it in the wrong order and it is trying to download the game rather than install of the DVD?

I would LOVE to be able to alt-tab...

It's weird, sometimes I can alt-tab no problem, others I can't.  I think maybe I can alt-tab as much as I want until I fight one battle, then I am unable to alt-tab.

but I'm really enjoying it...especially with this whole "tons of factions" instead of rebels thing.

Yeah, that is really awesome!  Much better implementation of the minor factions.

I'm having fun with Prussia, Europe is mine (well nearly)!

It's pretty fun when you go through times without money (war) and then come to great wealth(peaceful times). War is ok for me, no problem there. Ok i have big partners (Russia/Osmanian)... :p
