Operation Flashpoint

Anybody else love it?
I love making all of these friggin' crazy scenarios.
Lone sniper on top of a castle, sniping enemy squads rushing at him. Downloaded a mod for a go kart and made races between vehicles. Go kart is lawlz because if you make too sharp of a turn it flips over and explodes like a friggin' bomb. Pitting Americans and Russians against each other in different scenarios and flying an OH-58 as Resistance that is friendly to both groups to see who wins. Full scale assault on a town heavily defended(100s of troops and vehicles all dying and blowing up around you). A four man squad in a jeep or humvee charging into an occupied town, running over the enemy along the way, hopping and out and proceeding to unload all around you.
The most realistic FPS I have ever played.
1 headshot = death
1 torso shot = death
2 arm or leg shots = death
3 man vehicle crews(driver, gunner, commander)
Don't kill 2 friendlies or everyone of the AI in your nation will become your enemy.
etc...
The big issue I have is that the parachutes are effed up. I try to do an airborne mission and if I order everyone to drop they all drop out at the same time. If they collide, which they will, they ones that collide have there parachutes disfigure, the parachute smokes, and they die instantly. You have to drop people at most 2 at a time or they will collide alot. 2 rarely collide, but it sometimes happens.

Operation Flashpoint was a awsome FPS game and the most realistic one.
Had WW2 mods, FDF mods, more mods than people can imaginate of and most of them are well done.
BTW its COLD WAR CRISIS so there are no Russians, their Soviet Union- people tend to always forget that thing xD
The parachute thing is bloody awful, it needs lot of coding and scripting that must be seeked from the internet to make it correct. Also making a full mission is very funny a town you attack in with 6 men, kill all enemy forces, face a truckload of reinforcements and then fight versus more reinforcements and defend the town and then they have a tank and no AT weapons- hey check the ammo box there might be a RPG =D.
Yus...making missions was funny although it took time and patience with them since after every mission one had to run a debug on things and so on. Decreasin' skill levels.
As a game it is realistic and with the new props, mods and things you can make it even more interesting. Ol' T34 versus M1A1 Abraham- which will win? xD

Because a forum post should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Haha Fucking A! Thats what I spent the first 3 years of my degree playing! Now its COH, I spent about 4 years of my life on that game best €40 I've ever spent.
I found a code where:
Your team would get ejected from a transport one by one on passing a waypoint. It worked for your team and the AI. It was fucking cool. Did just what your taking about, proper parachuting.
The web site i used to get stuff from was ofp.info i think, can't remember now.
ARMA is gay, they fixed nothing! And ARMA 2 have you watched the videos? There are fuck all improvements! Slight graphics improvements but no AI improvements and NO animation improvements! What a pain.
In contrast Operation Flashpoint 2
looks
amazing but I seen very little in game stuff yet.

Why do u think that. It's almost sure that it will be released in 2009 (exactly summer).
I just hope that OF 2 won't be to arcade, fricking multiplatform can make it less hardcore.

OP - FOP (As we nicknamed it) took a lot of patience.
Same with ArmA.
Only a select few will enjoy 5 mins of stalking, then 30 secs (or 3...) of intense fire fight.
I was one of those hehehe.

loved it and played it intensely. I remember doing all sorts off stuff, like hiding myself under helicopters as I was playing the special forces missions.. Oh and taking the time out to stand still and notice movement in forest..
A very special type of gameplay I haven't seen since, but there's nothing as rewarding as running miles for a target, attacking it and making it out alive!
Also the use of vehicles was excellent. Fantastic simulated tank battles; I remember how cool aiming the turret of that thing was
I do think it's a little dated now though. The game always felt a tad "unfinished"...

Never played OFP but I played ArmA. The most enjoyable part for me was being a helicopter taxi pilot :p I loved taking the MH-6s and Blackhawks and picking people up and dropping them off to minimise their waiting them.
It was a matter of pride to do it as fast as possible, and flying nape of earth to avoid AA fire, and landing in tricky spots like in between buildings, and sometimes entertaining the passengers by doing barrel rolls, although *sometimes* I screwed up with a full load of passengers...

Operation Flashpoint 2:
-The command style in OF2 looked a little lacking, but the crazy military trained AI(they gave the AI a friggin military handbook) are suppose to make up for that.
-Multiplayer looked a little disappointing at first with 12v12, but then I heard of the 4 AI attached to every player making it a logical 48v48.
-The graphics look beautiful, a definant improvement to the original.
-I overheard something about calling in air support. Which in OF you could do this, but you had to mess with triggers, waypoints, and have the trigger be activated by a certain radio call in Scenario editor. The air support didn't just show up where you were at unless you were at a part of their path.
-Actual modern war, or a little bit in the future.
-Around a 100 weapons(I think) and 50 vehicles. They haven't said if all of them are drivable, but if they keep the OF glory then they will make all of them drivable. Though in OF there was atleast one vehicle you couldn't drive, that huge ass ship (forgot what its called, LST or something? idk.).
Russians vs Soviet Union? I call them Russians because I refer to the nation, not political. Thats like when someone refers to the US specifically they don't say UN or Democratic US(though we aren't a real democracy... so our political standing infront of the nations name would be too long), they say US or USA(or wrongly America, Mexico and Canada are American too you know;America is a country and USA, Mexico, Canada, etc... are nations).

Well im goin to stick with ARMA series and the old OFP series. OFP2 I think is really goin to suck really but that my view. Made by CM who have never made a Military Sim before unlike Bohemia Interactive who have made like 6 and have all been best sellers.
I love Military Sim's cos it jus like real life and not this stupid COD series stuff where you stay alive forever and only die after been shot 200 times in head.

Don't write them off until you try running over civvie cars in an Abrams, its physics engine will piss all over ArmA2.
Even though my group is going to ArmA2; I still admit CM has the monetary edge.

OFP was a great game. but it's not entirely realistic in the sense anyone can do anything. It certainly makes it more fun though and yes if your into a realism feel them Flashpoint and Arma are good ways to go. The controls seem a little clunky in ARMA to me, but maybe i just didn't give it enough of a chance. I certainly couldn't move the way i do in real life
