Hmm, I just thought of something again Smiley. What if you capture a province that you believe will be attacked sometime soon and you want to forgo your current turn's attack and build fortifications in that area that turn in preparation of a counterattack. This may not seem too major of a point, but I believe that if you can fortify sectors, that will allow you to free up divisions for flanking maneuvers/attacks while you protect the fortified area with minimal amount of troops.  Likewise, it would be interesting if you could invest some of your munitions/fuel/manpower in a "bombardment turn" during which a certain amount of firepower is dropped on a territory. This could be very useful for attacking heavily guarded areas. The bombing could be simulated at the beginning of the battle and would be random 105 strikes/bombing runs/rocket strikes or w/e. Let me know what you think.

Yup,
We have already discussed some ideas simular to yours (like bombing sectors to drop the income of a specific sector on the map.) as these things would really add some depth to the map-part of the mod but due to the size of this project and the time it takes for the map to be completely set up it's unlikely any of those features will see daylight in the alpha.

(We are going to start out with the basics and then work our way up to more indepth gameplay as we go)

As for fortifactions I believe defender's will actually get some time to set up at the start of every map but this will be explained in detail later on.

well, in that case may i suggest that you put in 3 types of bombing? strategic bombing, which would target supplies/factories, tactical bombing which would target enemy positions at large, and close air support which would be what it is in the game right now. and somehow perhaps you could count the planes downed per mission and subtract that from the allies' air divisions (which would be let's say 100 planes, this is arbitrary) and if they lose 100 planes, they can't fly anymore CAS missions etc. THis is pretty far fetched for alpha of course, but it would be a nice touch. Also I'm aware of the defender's 5 minutes thing, but it would be nice to keep fortifications from round to round. Is it possible to write a script that will take the map at the end of the match and save it as a map file and will set it as the new map file for that sector for the next time there's fighting there? It's just a thought.
Thx

Slightly off topic but didnt want to start an extra thread. What happens if 2 players both choose to attack each others sectors during their turn?
Will their be time to build defences and will sectors change after the battle?

The unit that moves faster (via calculations) will be the one conducting the attack.  If it's tie it will be random.
