what kind of armor do the commandos actually have? i had two games this week in which i met a commando blob and both times they like wouldn't die at all. first game i chased them with a puma at point blank range which didn't seem to do any damage at all. second game the same issue but this time witch an flamer ht. seemed to be even worse. is this the way it's supposed to be?

The axis flamethrowers are only very good vs buildings.

I haven't found them to be a problem, really. Very tough and deadly, yes, but not impossible to kill, like you describe.
You must've just gotten extremely unlucky or something; I find Pumas to be one of the best counter to commandos that Wehr have.

The allied and axis flamers are the identical.

Did you check criticals or just damage?

Because I believe flamethrowers do a bit of their kills from out of control man criticals.

Their crit tables are identical too.

Keep in mind I'm only looking at the engineer and pioneer flamers when I say identical.  The Croc/flammewerfer HT are the same in terms of crit tables but obviously differ in damage, range, etc .  Flamethrowers are highly random, thats why sometimes it burns forever but doesn't seem to kill anything.

Commandos are fairly robust against flamers as infantry goes, they have 70 hp/man, 6 men squads and soldier armor(which is ignored by flamers).  Its like trying to burn airborne.

Flamers only do Kills in the yellow and red health range, and their damage isn't very impressive most of the time. So you need critical tables to kill anything, which is good in a combined arms scenario. but you have to be conscious of that fact.

Puma's at medium and short range are only about 55% accuracy against commando's So while it's not  like chewing rifles to pieces you'll still reach the same end result it just takes a few more shots. They take 10% less damage from the Puma cannon which only helps them more.(if they were retreating then you can chase them to the spawn and not be able to kill them)
