Hey guys,

Been awhile since we had a warmap progress update so I compiled all the latest information on development and it seems as if we've hit a few road bumps that must be ironed out before the beta test can begin.

Quote From EIRRMod:

Im encountering a problem with the test-suite and the warmap.

There is too much information being passed from a single client - what we see now with chat and lagups with the battleroom will be NOTHING compared to when the warmap is introduced.

There are two ways to tackle this.  Firstly, increase the server power.  I DO NOT want to go down this path, because its more costly, and ultimately, not really needed.

The second way, and the way I am tackling it, is to transfer smaller data, and leaving the Client to do the validation of an order (mostly anyway) - and just do final checks at the server end.  The problem with this, is that the client needs to be up-to-date with data, and this can cause issues with de-syncing the data.

So Im having issues.  They will be sorted, but my brain is still constantly telling me off for using web-services rather than a client-server TCP solution (Yeah yeah phil, you know it)

There is a third (odd) way, and thats to create a TCP client for the warmap only.  But... that would be quite odd.  And if I did that, I could slowly convert over all the other bits from the web-service.  And then throw away mono (cos Id make it in C#, and itd easily be runnable as just an .exe)

So, just basic coder gibberish, but any news is good news. ;)

As always we appreciate your patience with these matters. The kinks will eventually be hammered out and we'll have a playable product, but until that time, just sit tight.

Hey all

Patch 0.7.9I was released last week to kick start the new year!
Lots of changes for all, see the patch logs here

We are hoping to release Tank Hunters this week, with the other doctrines following closely.
No big news on the warmap yet, but EIRRmod has been making some great progress and is aiming to release the closed beta very soon.

Stay tuned for more!

So......

flashing-santa

Haha, Yes! Merry Christmas from all the Developers at Europe in Ruins!

The holidays are almost upon us and hopefully on the 25th of December, Santa will bring a Warmap for all the little EIRR players out there to enjoy while they snuggle close to the fireplace, enjoying sugarplums (wtf are sugarplums?) and candycanes and wooden block firetrucks and all the joys that come with Christmas time!

However, being the sneaky bastard that I am around this time, I have traveled into the depths of the North Pole and STOLEN Santa's List! *gasp*

This list shows all the people that will be getting a nice stocking full of Warmap this Christmas because they've been good little Competition doers, and Santa is very well pleased with their goodness.

For the full list of all community members accepted into the Beta, check the "...Read More" link, or check out the full article and talk about it HERE.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let you guys know that the Europe In Ruins Warmap Beta testing phase is set to commence in about one week.

The Dev team is in need of 30-40 active players to participate in the Beta testing. In anticipation of this event, I have gone ahead and created 8 competitions in which players can compete for these beta slots.

All 8 contests will be judged on Friday, December 17th, and the top 3 entries for each competition will receive Beta test slots to participate in the Warmap testing on the 18th.

Check the full article in the "Read More..." link for the contest listings and Warmap information.

Enjoy!
