A hard days work is done.

The British troops have prepared defenses to aid the Greece Mitilda in the town of theses. The Grecians greatly appreciate the help, but only Nick Vedelago speaks English good enough to communicate with the British fluently. There are 4 more Men of the Mitilda who seem ready to defend their village with their lives, even though it does not seem that there is much to defend.

There is a 20 mm AA gun on top of one of the few remaining buildings, one of the few that remains save them from the constant attacks of the luftwaffe. The British high command has placed it here to prevent the lose of the fuel depot hidden in the basement of the building.
There are several well built sandbags surrounding whole town, also the houses are barricaded to provide cover for the militia. They only have a few old rifles and dwindling ammo for those, because of this limiting factor, the plan is to hold back and secure the flanks..
The broken down matilda tank is placed at the north of the village, but its engine is greatly damaged and it only hold anti tank shells.

While the men enjoy the cold of the night, suddenly a flare illuminates the sea, and they spot a small boat coming towards them....

"Hey, buddy.  Got a cigarette?"  Mickey nudged the soldier reading in front of him.  The Brit seemed surprised to hear a Brooklyn accent, and was even more surprised at the flight suit that he had on.

"Sorry chap, lost all of 'em at the docks getting on board."

He had some sort of Sussex accent, but went right back to reading.  Mickey decided not to bother anyone else around, they all seemed to be stuck on that bizarre plane between asleep and constantly vigilant, like most soldiers.  He decided instead to go out on the deck of the ship, as he always had a little bit of trouble with seasickness, and boarding a ship while running from the Luftwaffe didn't help any.

The Captain told them that they would be landing in Crete sometime tomorrow.  Mickey was hoping to meet back up with the 22 Greek, but after the disastrous dogfight over the city of Athens...he didn't know what he would find.  It was at that moment that Mickey saw a bright red flare, somewhere in the distance.

"Formation men!" An old husky man stood up on a wooden crate commanded. "At ease men, headquarters has given orders that we hold Theses at all cost! If Jerry thinks he can best the British army, then we'll just have to show them that we're not going to give up without a bloody fight! Now to your stations men and may God bless us all."

"Ever shot a man before?"
"No."
"Are you prepared to shot one?"
"If the time comes, yes."
"Have you ever driven your bayonet into the guts of a poor fellow who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?"
*Silence*
"It's alright lad, I haven't either."

LCpl. Fletcher stood up. He took off his helmet and brushed his brown hair with his hand. It was going to be a long day. He pulled out a picture of his father, Captain Fletcher, a highly decorated naval officer and a man he had never met in his life. Picking up his rifle, Fletcher slowly walked over to his station. The Germans were coming soon, it was only a matter of time. As he manned his post, a bright light flew over the neighboring sea.

Pfc Tom Lancaster readies himself for combat as the British prepare to fight.
Although he's been in the army for almost a year now, he never saw real action. As he mostly was planting mines or building tank traps.
He nervously tries to anticipate what close combat is like, while trying to calm himself at the same time. Trying to think what it's like when you look an enemy right in the eyes, with those eyes filled with fear. But there is one thing that grabs him more than fear, the fact that he might regret it.

One thing was for certain: it's going to be a blood soaked day.

Tom tries to get some sleep while he can, but questions keep him occupied the whole day. This was a feeling not of fear or excitement. It was a feeling like on a calm day with a spring breeze, but you know that there's a storm ahead, waiting for you te get caught within...

Sergeant Tom Quinn waved a hand to clear the smoke belching again from his Matilda's run down engine.
"Halt the wrecthed thing here" he told the driver and pulled himself out of the turret.

He had the tank in a cluster of trees where it had to be said was just about the best place he could find. He picked up his beret and started to go get some sandbags, his gunner joined him a minute later with a small wheelbarrow. They used it to ferry sand bags to the tank which they began to cover in them.

"lets just hope this bloody well works." he told the gunner.

For safe measure he heacked off a few bunchs of brush and covered the tank in them also.

HQ radios the troops;

"Enemy planes have been spoted, open fire on sight! Get ready!"

The Milita mans the 20 mm and searches the sky. Quickly spoting a glider and openeing fire, ripping arpart its left wing, igniting the fuel and creating a bright fireball that crashes into the ground close to the town, explosions indicate that it was well loaded with ammo.

Nick Vedelago leaves town with his rifle slung over his shoulder.  The British stop their frantic preparations for a moment to watch him walk away.  They know that by the next day, his name will become a curse among the Germans.

T. Lancaster sits at his little hideout, looking for Fallschirmjägers on the horizon.
He then moves towards the glider wreck, going from cover to cover.
When he arrived at the glider he quickly scavenged some stuff that might come in handy.
He found some matches, cigarettes, a helmet, medical supplies, a handgrenade and a bipod which was probably for a MG34.
The helmet was thrown about 5 metres away from from the body.
Tom quickly takes the medical supplies, handgrenade and the bipod and returns to his position to see if they are still usable.
He looks at the horizon one more last time. He then sprints back to his position while still trying to be as quiet as possible.
He then further examined the scavenged equipment.
All looked to be in good shape, although the bipod was a bit broken he quickly got it fixed. He then looked for Stevy....

Elliot scanned the view from his position. Above in the skies, he can hear the German planes circling the island. For a second, he saw a German standing about 600 meters away, then he was gone. Either shot by one of the Allied soldiers or nonexistent in the first place. Fletcher continued scanning the open field, searching for any movement.

He had not fired any shots yet, his wilderness experience has taught him that you don't get your prey by shooting wildly.

Then, he spotted movement running to the foliage and tree line. Taking his aim, Elliot held his rifle with a steady hand.
"Steady now..." He whispered to himself. His eyes focused on the little splotch, almost blending in with the surroundings. Within a second, the German would be no more. If not for his trained eyes, that German would have most likely gotten away.

Elliot lowered his rifle. His first kill, his first taking of a life. He was dazed and confused, it had all happened so quickly. Did he really fired his rifle? He checked his rifle, it had fired.

OOC - This is ThetaCommander btw.

Mickey finally sees the town in the distance, and carefully approaches to make sure he isn't fired at by friendly forces.  As he approaches a small wall of sandbags, a pom-pom gun erupts in angry fire.  Mickey listens carefully, and can hear the crash of a German plane.  He ducks behind a sandbag wall and waits for daybreak.  Hopefully, he can procure a new weapon or get extra ammunition for his Webley Revolver.

"I need some volunteers for a patrol!" Yelled a sergeant.

Fletcher and several other men raises their hand.

"We'll go, what's the patrol about?"
"Alright men, form up over here and I'll brief you. I need a small patrol of men to search the area east of the town. Do not engage the enemy unless necessary. Sergeant Donald will be leading this patrol. Follow his orders and hopefully no body gets hurt."

The small group of men began their patrol eastward of the town. Cautiously moving along the town, the leader of the group suddenly raises his fist.

"There's someone behind that sandbag barricade. Fletcher, Evermount, check it out."

The two men crept forward slowly and cautiously with their fingers on the trigger.

The radio was a mess of conflicting battle reports. He had reports of krauts everywhere. At the airfield, the AA gun, even right outside the building he was sharing with A company! He looked out the window and ducked when a bullet whizzed through the window, breaking the glass.

"Son of a bitch!" he exclaimed, dropping to his knees.

A private from A company helped him up. His name tag read, "O'Conner."

"Thanks, O'Conner," Andrew said.

"No problem," O'Conner replied as he leaned out the window and began shooting.

Machine gun fire answered O'Conner's rifle fire and tore him in half. His torso fell out of the window, while his legs fell back into the room, gushing blood.

Andrew stared for a minute or two, before retching onto the floor. It looked like the krauts were very close by. He had to get on the radio...

Mickey saw a few men approaching, and was able to notice the silhouette of the standard British helmet.  He stood up slowly, and asked, "Hey, any of you guys got a cig?"

"Well, if it isn't one of you flyboys. We better get you over to the town. Jerry has already landed and it's only a matter of time before they launch their assault."
"Here, you're going to need a weapon. Take this until we can find a another weapon."
*Fletcher hands over his .45 Colt to Mickey along with two extra magazines*
"It's a semiautomatic, 8 shots, just point and shoot. The bullet will handle the rest."

The British patrol along with with Mickey made their way back to the town cautiously. The enemy could be anywhere.

//Since Stumpster's and my character are located a bit far off from the town, wouldn't there be a serious possibility that we might arrive after the initial assault?

Bullets hit the building, the axis are attacking! A company quickly takes cover and lifts there head to return fire, but an mg34 is quickly focuses onto them. The Greek militia member fires out of the window with his rifle. Several Enemy’s are approaching from both flanks, Andrew Sanders takes aim and fires one of the shadows falls down, but as revenge a massive amount of fire goes down onto them, they are greatly outnumbered!

An explosion shakes the building that is used as cover by the A company, the Grete is dead instantly, Andrew Sanders is hit, fragmentation pieces are stuck in his side, the radio stopped most of the fragmentations that would have pierced his head otherwise. It’s completely useless now and Elliot is loosing blood and is under shock.

The rest of the A company takes cover north of the house, but the Axis are approaching quickly!

They are facing a hard choice, shoud they run and regroup with the rest to face the Germans or try to get to there wounded friend?

Tom after hearing the shots dropped what he was carrying-a pair of sandbags and ran towards the tank.
"Get to the tank" he yelled at his gunner.

The two of them ran to the Matilda and got in.
They could see muzzle flashes from further off and began to wonder whether or not they should move the Tank out of cover and try to reach the allied infantry teams in the village.
