Battle number 8444.

Many axis assaults stall because they are unable to breach allied defences fast enough, and when they get bogged down, become targets for superior allied artillery.

Here is a replay showing how to conduct a blitzkreig of an urban objective even in the face of strong anti-infantry and anti-tank opposition.

Allied Defenders
4th Airborne (ShockCoil)
352nd Armour (Pak75mm)
44th Airborne (Undisputed)

Axis Attackers
818th Defensive (WOLFGOR)
103rd Terror (VonBrummels)
881st Blitzkreig (MistenTHA)

Who wins?

Deliberately left vague. It's an example of blitzkreig tactics and how the push goes, not who wins.

It's blitzkrieg.

Thx, fixed.

A good blitzkrieg would be one that you win...

A good blitzkreig allows you to capture the important defensible positions quickly. After which the attackers become the defenders, with the exception of the attackers pushing all the way to the defenders' spawn point and killing them there.

It is very possible to successfully blitz and capture the important locations with a blitzkreig focused initial attack but then lose it as the battle degenerates to a more standard skirmish-type battle.

Actually, per definition of blitzkrieg, it'd be one where you put constant pressure on the defenders and eventually push them off-map, not digging in once you've captured key locations. This is probably a good replay on how to perform a textbook offensive assault on a defensive position though. (=/= 'Blitzkrieg')

Just a technicality :p.

It's even likely.
I think Blitzkrieg tactics work best when you have a teammate with lots of cheap infantry or heavily relying on support weapons.

Support weapons don't really fit into the concept of a blitzkrieg to be honest :p.
Tanks, heavy artillery and mechanised infanty ftw!

hmmmm

1. 88 was really a bitch to deal with

2. MG42s early game pretty much allow you guys to keep  your gains pretty well.

3. KT killed my vet 2 sherman...i cried.

4. Being worn down slowly sucked. The 88 rush woulda been funny if it had worked but that damn vet 2 sniper become that guy from the tower in texas. He just raped my rifles like confused hippie college kids.

5. I felt early game it was close for us to push ya back and hold well. I was confident till the KT blew the shit out of my Vet 2 sherman and my Pershing tucked tail and ran. That was pretty much the height of our advance and we just couldnt hold much. Mortar btw did a good job on your side.

True that. But we can't really Blitz all the way because of the spawn buff and usually, the lack of superior defensive positions near the spawn points. Hence attackers have to defend at some point, unless they do manage to spawn camp.

Yea when your Pershing came on the field I wasn't sure if we could have held it. But good thing the KT came out, it essentially anchored the entire line on the eastern flank. The flak88 held the western side. Case in point; my company is built to blitz, but without the Defensive and Terror companies to help hold the gains, Blitz would have lost all the territory it gained again.

In an ideal "realistic" Blitz we would have been able to push all the way to some river or something where a few PAKs can stop any counter assault easily.

I've been dreaming about a Blitzkrieg assault on Bastion with the axis...

3 Terror players, all with Firestorm AND V1, and 1 nebel/mortar per starting call in.
simultaneous barrage on city, plus mortar provides smoke... KT and KCH move in afterwards in tandem with each other.

would be epic.
will watch.

not really blitz tactic. Personally, I think the closet things to a blitz on here would be an assault with stuka's, stuh's, tigers, panthers, grenadies, no volks, no pak guns, no hmgs, no mortars, Just pure Infantry, tanks, and artillery. It could work if dont right. Heck, you could base an offense based soley off always having at least one tank on the field and having 2 mech inf or some type of artillery.

personally, i think the best combo would be
defensive/rocket artillery
blitz/lightningwar
blitz/heat rounds
