As many of you have seen, in-game development of 2.0 is well-underway. The video I've posted of the emplacement represent a lot of work thus far. I was met with issue after issue, hurdle after hurdle of getting them to work satisfactorily in a 'persistent' environment. Giving them the ability to both retreat and relocate ended up being much harder than originally expected, but I think I've just about got all the problems resolved. Hopefully I don't run into any more major issues.
Development is going, but slow. I'm the only person doing any work on it at all. I lost my other web developer naradaman, and Phil is not interested in doing anymore PHP projects. Last I heard, the response he got to finding help was minimal. I'm unsure if those that responded will even be able to help. So what this leaves is for me to do all the ability editing, all the SCAR coding, and all the PHP and website work. That's a lot of work for someone who works 45 hours a week and has a wife.
At any rate, the initial roll-out plan for 2.0 is still being planned for a very basic release with all 4 doctrines but veterancy and doctrines disabled (experience gain will not be disabled so gaining experience on units will be retroactive when veterancy is completed). In addition to that, we will be moving to a one resource system WITHOUT platoon purchasing. However, because the one resource system was designed to work with platoon purchasing, there will be limits to how many units you can purchase per company and there will be a limit to how many platoons you can bring into battle. Platoons are meant to be much larger across the board in 2.0 instead of the 8-12 pop platoons we see now.
I want to thank everyone for sticking around and for being patient. I know it must be frustrating but probably not near as frustrating as it is for me to want to deliver a product to you and not having the resources to get it done in a timely manner.
Unless the community completely opposes, I'd like to wipe the current war and do a final finale (redundant?) The rules are simple. Availability is turned off, automatic re-supply stays on -- all you need is one company. In addition 1v1's reporting will be disabled to keep me from having to do a lot of baby-sitting. What's at stake? Permanent ribbons and badges will be given away to players once the first release of 2.0 is ready. These awards will be given to players in specific categories such as:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th highest amount of territories conquered (with at least 35% defending battles)
1st, 2nd, 3rd highest amount of territories defended (with at least 35% attacking battles)
Best win % with at least xx battles played. (xx will depend upon total battles played before 2.0)
Best k/d ratio with at least xx battles played. (Vehicles = 10)
1st, 2nd, 3rd highest number of casualties per battle. (10 battle minimum)
1st, 2nd, 3rd highest number of battles with a win percentage of less than 50%.
Top 10 most experienced units.
Top 10 most experienced companies.
Also, everyone will receive a badge of participation... All medals and ribbons are given per faction. These will be attached to your permanent profile in 2.0 (on the new website).
