Old news, and they've already found the cause of the discrepancy.

Really?

And no, this in no way affects modern day physics, as theory on FTL was just that a theory. Even if possible were a long way away from being able to making this practical

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/22/us-science-light-idUSTRE78L4FH20110922

now they check for errors during experiment

the most likely error is the different pulse shape

so its in no where proved yet

Demon posession is real and it's not funny, it's the creepiest thing you will ever experience.

I would also like to add I watch fox news everyday all day and will continue to watch it while being proud of that fact. I'm sure you enjoy your communist news network just as much.

The informal language used in that article disproves that source lol

When i first read about this experiment, it said specifically that they had accounted for that.

I mean do you honestly believe that they didn't think of this before the experiment. Even I knew about this, and I am pretty damn far from being a particle physicist!

If you want the actual report:

http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/1110/1110.2685v3.pdf

Which you can find through: http://arxiv.org/abs/1110.2685

Key line in this whole report that means its bullshit

"Admittedly,
the calculation here presented contains some simplifying assumptions"

But if your still convinced

take a look at their conclusion

"We showed that a potential correction to the OPERA experiment is obtained if we hypothesize
that they measure the Lorentz transformation-corrected time of flight as measured from a clock
in a non-stationary orbit."

They state, NOT fact, untested unproven theory.

@Spartan_Marine88

Twice in this thread you have miss-understood the meaning of scientific theory, you appear to be confusing it with hypothesis. Yes in common English they can be used (confusingly) interchangeably, but scientifically to be promoted from a common hypothesis to the position of theory is not trivial.

When the experiment was publicized, the scientists behind it said that this had to be confirmed. They simply gave their results and looked for insights from other scientists.

Lots of hypothesis(es?) were formulated but there hasn't been, to this day, a conclusion that has enough evidence to back it up.

Unless you can link me someplace that has this?

Thanks for the links.

Sadly this is WAY above my level and the fact that I have to rely on others for the thinking together with all the different explanations means I can't say what is true and what is not.

I will just have to wait until the scientific community reaches a consensus and so should you guys.
