Is anyone else watching this?

I just got home from work and I am flipping back and forth between this and college football.

Is Sarah Palin actually retarded? or actually just that inept sounding?

I don't care for Joe Biden, but he is wrecking Palin.

Thoughts?

Yeah sadly Palin just doesn't have enough experience to compete, she is though trying her best to dodge things and not say anything wrong. Is very one sided.

I am pretty certain I could get up there and sound more competent, and the extent of my knowledge is a few hours of NPR and BBC international a day.

So far so good, I think I will leave it open for now.

If it derails I will lock.

On topic, I am actually starting to feel bad for Palin. I have been in over my head before, it is a shitty feeling.

I support McCain, but he's really going to need to pick a new name for the VP ticket if he really wants my vote in the end.

As an outsider looking at this, i have very little confidence in palin,  I can't get past the fact that the way she talks and looks at the world is not what the US needs right now from a potential president.

That country is now viewed in such a poor light considering everything that has happened under the bush administration that a strong leader with a world as well as local view who does not rely on cliche and homespun "truths" is needed. Palin does not inspire this at all, biden only a little more.

One hopes that people of the US realise that in allot of ways the world is watching this with more interest than any other election as there are so many vital areas of concern that if the US does not get right will cause allot of people pain and ruin.  The stakes are very very high and i think its sad that the republicans chose to play populist politics by playing the female card without actually thinking about credentials.

I just hope this not another sad chapter in american politics.

Biden bothers me on a fundamental level - for a campaign based entirely around change, adopting a born-and-bred career politician really rubs me the wrong way

End of the day this changed nothing for me

Palin is funny, she lives in her own bubble and she thinks that the world is supposed to be the way she views it. But the fact is, she was picked to be an attack dog on Obama but she's so dense that she's spending more time defending herself than going after Obama, it's just sad.

Palin clearly excelled in not knowing what the fuck she was talking about  Tongue.
That being said, Joe Biden was pretty damn boring but who cares, he's going to be the vice president... it's not like charisma is a big requirement there, you'd expect intelligence to be though... Cheney lacks both intelligence and charisma but he made VP now didn't he? (Arguably the worst VP in history might I add)

I think matt damon summs up my feelings about palin pretty well:

It really does seem like a great scenario for another crappy disney movie haha.

Everyone's going like 'oh well, she did better than expected', not hard when you realise the expectations were nearly non-existant... She had a month to 'study' for this debate, she never really 'debated' with Biden or even answered questions directly for that matter. It'd be pretty bad if she wasn't even able to pull this off,  even the average joe is capable of doing this. But guess what, you don't want the average joe to be vice president, you want someone in that position who actually has an idea what he's talking about.

I'd also like to point out that Biden has given over 100 interviews where as Palin has given 3... They're clearly keeping her away from the media because obviously they're aware of how much she can fuck up. And in those 3 interviews, she's only made a fool out of herself...

I'm convinced he's only really there for his huge amounts of experience, especially on foreign affairs, silencing those who criticise obama's inexperience. And on international issues particularly he's been with obama all along so he DOES support change, regardless of being a long-term serving politician.

Also don't forget McCain/Palin has been pulling the 'change' card a few times himself, unlike Biden however he really has absolutely no case for 'change'. Someone who has supported Bush 91% of the times should NOT advocate change regardless of what they say.

Anyway, looking forward to the next 2 debates.

QFT

All the interviewers are now just having fun with her.  Remember when she was asked if there were any other cases that she didnt support? She used a bunch of bullshit about how "This great land...Some other I may disagree with.....Best left on a local level" and directly avoided the question.

My biggest two issues with Palin, outside of thinking she is totally unqualified, is the fact that it seems that the only reason they brought her on board is to go after Barack Obama.

Also, the whole issue with her abusing her power to fire her ex brother-in-law really bothers me. Particularly the part where the GOP has been moving to keep the investigation bogged down until after the election. Isn't that the same shit Bush has been doing for the last eight years?

I also really don't like having my patriotism questioned by people like her.

Also, I appreciate us keeping this civil and focused on the candidates.
