I noticed that Easern Front mod had the ability for Russians to ride on the back of the tanks. Maybe we can do something like this for EiRR with bonuses/penaltys for doing so?

They sit behind the turret, they are garrisoned and animated and looks really cool tbh..
2 on each side, rooms up to 4 soldiers.

I am assuming that this would require the unit to be animated for that (which means new tank model) which lowers the chances of it happening for standard EiR units.
What do the devs think of the russian tank warmap card? I have no doubt the eastern front devs would be very open to letting EiR borrow a unit or two.
It all depends weither EiRmod thinks its appropriate for ruskies to be in the middle of Europe or not.(but we don't really care about historical accuracy anyway)

Having units on the Tanks wouldn't be that hard to do AFAIK, you could ask the EF devs if they could help you make the animations necessary for pretty much all the tanks considering their tanks were probably built from scratch of the mentioned tanks:
Sherman
Sherman Jumbo
Panzer 4
Stug
Panther
Tiger
Pershing
Calliope (Probably not for Calli, too difficult with the rockets on top of it)
Since the biggest squad is 6? You could see exactly how to position atleast 6 riflemen on a tank to see how it would work with the maximum
Of course there would be modifiers for being on a tank. Most likely around the lines of increased received accuracy and slight reduced accuracy but the upside of this would having the ability to defend your tank slightly against upclose AT Infantry and getting your units to the frontline faster. Should the tank die with units on it, then obviously they would take casualties as if they were in a recently destroyed halftrack.
It would be a neat idea to have and would things like towing ATGs and carrying Infantry are just little tidbits that make EiRR seem better (If balanced correctly)

You guys could allso do it like in OMG mod where units in Hts get killed And damadged by fire and small fire so you would not use it like having unkillable infantry on back of tank and would rather be used as a Transport.
