So last night while playing a game of EIRR, my computer crashed, simply my screen went blank. I guess sound stopped too, I wish I would of paid attention.

Either way, I restarted, and I was just browsing the internet, thinking the graphics were up a bit too much and that it was a one time thing. But then bam it happened again.

afaik it's not the monitor, because it stays on with the normal green light. I do believe I hear a buzzing from my computer, but I may have not noticed it before.

What's the best way to figure out what is wrong? If I turn off my computer for a bit then turn it back on it'll work for a little bit, then screen will go black again and it won't start up, not even to the mobo XFX screen.

Anyone have any assumptions as to what it is, I haven't had ANY issues at all since I put in windows 7, in fact, my computer has been working phenomenal, so it's strange this would come out of the blue.

According to newegg I got it 9/21/07, so only about 4 years old, not to mention there was a 6 month period where my computer was out of commission. I also make a good habit of turning off my computer at night.

I heard turning your computer on and off shortens its life. I always leave a screen saver on instead.

Yeah it does help most computer parts only have about a guaranteed 50,000 hour life span, but from what I can tell your video card is no good...it's about 5 years old which is the time around most videocards start going ape shit.

Well I'll take it as a blessing and a curse, you think it could be anything else at all? And is there anything else I can check? I don't think I have an extra computer to pop it into to make sure its the video card, but I can probably bring it to the computer shop up the street.

 EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3

this is what I have, I don't think I'll have a budget of more than $200, any suggestions to what I should get?

1 x Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
1 x CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80
1 x GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
1 x Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80557E6750
2 x Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
1 x Creative 70SB073A00000 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer

This is my current system.

And it really kills your computer by turning it off? What's the best thing to do, hibernate it at night?
