Flakverling is direct counter to Bofors?

...an, er, interesting strategy.

counter part lol. not counter. like the P4 is the counter part to the sherman.

i feel that i would prefer a flak veirling over a bofors though because even though it doesnt do anything heavier than a HT, it at least shreds inf at all distances.

Puddin, I read what you said. I just pointed out the glaring inconsistency in what you were saying.

The vierling, fires 12-15 shots in a 2-2.5 second burst that each deal 15-20 damage. 180-300 damage per burst at 0.5 accuracy at long range, so reasonably 120 damage in 2 seconds of fire, and a rough 20 DPS overall.

Getting closer pushes this damage output up significantly

The bofors, fires 8 shots over 4 seconds each dealing 25-35 damage. 200-280 per burst at 0.5 accuracy vs moving targets, so reasonably 120 damage in 4 seconds of fire, and a rough 13.33 DPS overall.

Getting closer means this DPS goes down to an effective... 2.7 DPS

How exactly is the vierling weaker, considering it can put out the same damage in half the time just as the enemy moves into it's radius, as well as not becoming absolutely useless once the enemy comes into short range?

because of the whildly effective versatility.  A bofors can remain lightly or completly un spoorted for the most part while a flack verling can be countered by any vehicle, even a M3 half trck with an assult squad.

or better yet just the M3 halftrack.

The Flackvirling is never used, why is that?  Th bofors is used... Why is that?  The very heavy must have bofors shows while an effective and cost effective unit, It needs a small pop cap tweak.

And isn;t the flackvirling a 5 pop unit?  So why is it the bofors is 4 pop?  I am really confused by that.

Puddin' spamtm
i cant really blame smokaz i mean playing against puddin is like trying to fight off breast cancer. You might win and do it and be a bad ass but you'll feel sick and mutilated forever.

Puddin' spamtm is soulcrushing... what's hard to understand about that?

I think a big reason the FV isn't used compared to the bofors is you are looking at a T1 unit and a T3 unit. You get that FV and 88, most people are going to have to base their company around that.

Compared to RE where you aren't sure what to spend your point on, so you figure you'll grab the 17 and bofors. also there's really only 1 or 2 viable options for RE right now, and it just so happens you might as well grab the 17 and bofors with either of those options. Where as luft has quite a few different ways to go.

Yes, but there are a couple of factors that you have not included, the first being as Puddin mentioned the Bofors is also effective against vehicles. The Flakvierling is 6 pop, 50% more than the Bofors, it has longer reload than the Bofors. The Bofors has more than twice as much health, is not decrewed easily and has longer range. I'm not sure how penetration values work against infantry, but the Bofors gun has much higher penetration as well.

The main difference of course being health and decrew since that almost completely leaves out the pak, sniper and mortar as effective counters.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

My point is that, realistically - the bofors is ONLY effective against vehicles. Against infantry, it's effective if the enemy decides to stay within a very very specific band of range - and when out of this band the bofors is about as damaging as a single MP40 Pioneer guy. Making it's role to be, specifically, taking out light vehicles in a purely defensive manner.

Due to the shitty nature of emplacements that "twice higher health" is a necessity for the bofors. Emplacements are far easier to hit with any sort of balistic weaponry - you'll see a pak take out a bofors way faster than a 57mm would take out a vierling. Taking out the Bofors is as easy as throwing 2-3 regular AT grenades. Vierlings are notoriously less succeptible to sticky bomb attacks.

Penetration is irrelevant against infantry for both the bofors and the vierling.

Now, all this is not to say that there might not be something wrong. I'd argue that what's wrong is a severely underperforming vierling, not an overperforming bofors. Paying 6 popcap for a vierling may indeed be too much and perhaps it should be remedied. Another thing to do could be moving down the vierling+88 combo to a more affordable tier.

I think bofors and vierling need to be brought more into line with each other. up the bofors effectiveness against infantry, and the vierlings against light vehicles. Raise the bofors pop a tad too, there both static pieces which are fairly easy to counter unless well backed up and could do with a bit more fearsomeness.

Has anyone else had the issue of Bofors not targeting aircraft ouside of their miniscule 35 range ?
the last few games ive used them they have failed to react to scout planes, stukas and henchels.

Now I know why this unit is so inconsistent. If you have a captain in the sector the bofors gets 25% more health. If you have a vet2 captain it gets 50% more health.
