And for something completely different..

Ello folks, Thought it'd be nice to put up a post showing Good Sportsmanship for a change rather than the more common blacklisting of people.
Was just in a 2v2 with me and Fluffy as Axis, MikeHalo and Tectonic76 on Allies - Road to Carentan - Battle ID 11144.
Hard fight, lost a fair chunk of units both sides, me and Fluffy drove back Mike and Tec to the southern area with the open field / house by the road, most of their infantry had been trashed and a counterattack could be done with the Calliope.
Tectonics Calliope was tearing us apart so did a Banzai charge with the Vet 3 Tiger to damage the Calli so he retreats it off field, turned the Tiger round back up the road - 2 upgunned Shermans and an M10 turn up, tore apart the Tiger bad, thought it was about to get blown to pieces and they both pulled back and said '' GG ''
Battle was over because most of their infantry had been destroyed and they saw no need to destroy it [ in Mikes own words ]
So, just wanted to say Kudos to them for that, really cool Sportsmanship. Makes a really nice change from the ranting/hating going on at the moment. Hope to return the favour to you Tec/Mike sometime.

I might be wrong, but I am new, so I am allowing myself some humanity
I heard a lot of complaints when people were getting their vet 3 killed. I don't understand? Is it viewed as bad to eliminate the opposition?
Sure, maybe theres not real need to destroy it to win the game, but you ARE crippling an enemy player. I am sure there are no rules, like it was stated, its good sportsmanship, but do they blacklist you? I wouldn't be mad if they kill my vet 3 sniper, or my vet 3 whatever.
Just asking, since I don't want to piss people off unintentionally.

Okay vet. 3 kill;
A player sends a unsopported tank out for a attack and dies.
Bad Vet. 3 kill as i saw them;
Tank hits 2 mines, gets immobilized at nearly 70% health and away from the battlefield.
2 Players drop 5x AB with RR no it in a attempt to kill it, but there is overhelming inf support and they get killed, then they suicide 2 shermans at the same tank and drop more AB until it is dead.
(as it happend in a game)
If a player wants your unit dead and is willing to suicide 10x that units worth to get it, you cant do much. You win the game, but you lose in one way. Thats what ppl get very angry about and I can understand.

With the game me fluffy / mike / tectonic had, they were will within their rights to destroy my Tiger, I just thought it was really cool that they didnt because as Mike said, they had no Infantry left to cap or launch a counter assault, mainly Armour so there would be no point in destroying it since the countdown timer had started to retreat - even though they could have quite easily and had every right to.

Me thought me kill. Then teammate said no kill. So I thought to myself "Why kill? Me lose already." So me let live.

Huh... can't compete to that fairness.
Atleast it's a lot of vet you gain from a tiger, can push some infantry units directly to vet2.
respect.

Killing any kind of vet will always get people angry, but there are good ways and bad ways, much like thtb said.
Good - Killing unsupported unit
Bad - suiciding to kill vet units or deliberately go out of your way to hunt them down with gimmick companies.

I played one douche who purposely sniped my retreating vet 2 ranger (my 1st ever!) while it was retreating. and he did stuff like that the whole game, chasing after my units while retreating. Now i did lose the game but next time i play the guy i dont give a crap i'm trashing everything and not playing nice. Most people i wont field more than 1 howie at a time cuz well, it's bad for me and also if i have 40 pop caps it's just devasting especially if i still have an off map but i wont give a crap against him, i'll just go all out and even off-map a retreating unit if i can cuz i'm still piseed about that.

i find enemy vet units verry threatening and i will look to destroy them at any cost and i expect others to do so.
normally im pissed when i lose vet 3 unit but its the part of the game.
If i dont destroy enemy vet 3 this game it will hunt me the next one so if i have chance to finish it off i sure will!

Well, this is just me(and im a little crazy in a way) but if I have even the most VALUABLE unit in my army, and it causes the death of 10x its cost..... I wouldn't lose in away, I would laugh my ass at the guy.
Vet isn't a rare thing, the careful methodical player can earn vet 3 in a single game. Granted, its not something you can predict, but it is something you can properly prepare.
In my first game, I managed to get several squads to vet1 and 2(including some rangers). Sure, aint much when we talk bonuses but it was an acocmplishment, to me it meant I was doing alright for my first game. There he goes the enemy, calling panzergroups just for my vet units

Yeah it's easy toa get but since rangers can easily get wtfpwnd so easily at times just to get one to vet 2 is hard...i had never had one above vet1 so when i saw i had this one at vet 2 i retreated it right away and to purposefully snipe it is just lame imho. i'd never do that to someone else i'm a pretty fair player..
now, against axis players it's different because if you're chasing a tank, u have no idea if they have a repair bunker. Now, if i was just making my ranger go back that's different, but i was retreating it off-map and it was my 1st time playing this guy. anywho...i've vented enuff

Rangers are some of the toughest infantry in the game, only KCH are tougher man for man. If you can't get them to vet up, you are doing it wrong.

I guess so...well I guess the thing is I usually use rangers for support and hunting tanks I never have more than 6 squads of rangers and they're usually paired with a rifleman w/ a BAR and/or a sticky. sometimes i'll have a pair call in but never more than 2 of those. I have several vet 1 riflemen and a couple vet 2 riflemen. My riflemen usually get thrown to the meat grinder so that's why i dont have many vets and i feel like smg's for rangers are too expensive for what they do, then again, once you start using them the axis player runs just like against kch so i dunno, maybe they getkilled so easily for me because people tend ot get them so exclusively?
