I have an ongoing ticket with them, for 6 months we have had stable service and now this week uggg

suffice to say nevyen is not happy

im looking at other options if this is not resolved.

You need to tell them that having an IP name only is not acceptable.

As you paid for the DNS aswell - they are just trying to ... I dont know, cover their lack of knowledge?
