Yeah the 25lbr is pretty junk, it needs a range boost and a cooldown reduction for sure. Currently it has the hitbox of a battleship so everything hits it.

If it was more like a Mortar in that it fired a round with a very long reload(thinking 40-60 seconds here...) it might see some love but without seeing that in practice i don't know

If the 25 Pounder was made alike with the Howizer 105. It'd make it useful. Only Price increase to match with Howizer.

I think that would work then it wouldn't have to be mobile if it had almost same range with Howizer and Super Charged Arty rounds would increase it to match howizer or little bit more

BTW: Please implemented the Firing Station Doctrine choice (Unlocks Overwatch and Counterbarrage) in a balanced and usefull way.

I'd love to see those two abilities implemented, maybe overwatch as it is in vcoh or as barrage/single shot thats devastating to infantry.
Counterbarrage would be really great too if it would shoot rounds at every enemy artillery piece that shoots.(Including enemy Mortars!)
But please no cancel cooldown just a normal cd so that the priest is immediatly moveable after canceling.(like marder lock down e.g.)

Oh and one more thing: How do i unlock Creeping Barrage on my priest if he gains an extra use at Vet2?!

P.s.: Overwatch is my favorite ability in vCoH because it can halt and devastate any army.

If the 25pdr can't be moved from a T1 to a T0 unlock, how about a special barrage that goes along with it as a T1. It will be an exclusive barrage only to the 25pdr and it can use the shellburst barrage (like Overwatch shells used in a "normal" barrage) along with the ability to do a normal HE barrage.

Then it can either use all-purpose HE rounds that can do devastating damage to Infantry, bunkers, and Tanks alike or can use a shellburst barrage to decimate a Infantry Blob.

Shrapnel burst should be specialist and limited imo.

I love the ability in Vcoh, but infantry are not for keeping in that, so decimating half/entire armies with it is totally acceptable, here, not so much.

So finally got my hands on some of these.

I quite like it, I'd personally prefer a pop reduction, as it's damage to recharge rate is decent imo.
The main problem is Paying for a unit that doesn't vet/retreat.

Maybe follow suit of the engies, and make this a doctrine unlock rather than a power, and put something in that adds to either it's range (not too much 20-35%) or AoE? (again, only 5-15%)

I see 2 ways to do this.
1- make it more like howei - long range less killable
2- make it more like the STuH - short-med range but shoots every 40 seconds or something

It's not accurate enough to make that change viable imo, although I did think of that first.
If you were going to do this, I'd make it just like the mortar pit is.
Target a barrage, and it keeps firing (no cooldown but longish reload) on that area until you stop or re-target.
Supercharged should be moved to t2 and effect 25pdr as well in this instance.
I'd suggest a reload of 20-30 seconds at current power/damage/range and accuracy levels.

I think the best solution is to have it unlock with the doctrine though, then put in an unlock for range and health/resistance.
It should also keep it's saturation effect (less accurate, but fires in rounds).

Right now, for the cost, and build time and reload time, I still kinda like it.
But it's not quite powerful enough to be useful.

I favour a pop reduction myself, as it means less taken up on such a sideline unit.

Since Vet seems to be working now (still can't retreat I don't think).

Can we get a second Creeping barrage at vet 2?  Grin

Or add some suppression, it doesn't do enough damage against anything except buildings really.

i think the barrage cooldown is the same as a howie, it should be lower cuz of the shorter range and an extra creeping would be good at higher vet.

To make it fair, when it gets up to supercharged, you can add in time to balance it.

Agreed. It's a static emplacement with limited range, the cooldown should be low enough to make people realize that the 25-pdr is actually a credible threat within its target zone. People should want to GTFO out of the target zone, or be forced to deal with the emplacement relatively quickly. I would put the cooldown at something closer to Nebel/Stuka cooldown rather than Hummel/105mm/Priest/Calliope cooldown, with according price adjstments.

What price adjustments?

25pdr as it is, is under par, with most things.
That's excusing the fact it doesn't always fire at max targeting range, and it's not very tough for an emplacement.

Creeping barrage is cool, but you still pay for it, if it was on cooldown, it would make this unit a lot more of a threat.

Right now, if I normal barrage, most people only move because they think it's powerful arty, second time around they don't really bother.
A near direct hit, doesn't do that much damage to most infantry.
It's great at killing buildings tho  Tongue

I also think you shouldn't be forced to get a t3 unlock to make it a viable option.

The biggest/best change I think would be to lower it's pop.

This would change quite a few things in it's favour.
1. You can defend it better.
2. You could actually get two, hence victor target would have a real use.
3. You could place them to cover eachother, giving it more of a scare factor.

The bonuses for vet are nice, as even though it's damage potential is below what it needs to be effective, the cooldown bonus makes it a decent attrition weapon, *if* you can keep it alive.
