It's 'AP' rounds is tied to their 'First Strike' bonus while firing from camouflage

Cloak the pak, then fire it at an approaching enemy tank.

The first shot will be equivalent to an AP shot in terms of bonuses. This can be done every time the Pak recloaks. If you reman the Pak, you still retain the first strike bonus after you cloak.

nope they only get cloak.  And thats all they will get since cloak is a comparable ability to AP rounds, since the Ambush bonus adds bonuses to penetration and damage like AP rounds.

So in theory, they start with sorta AP rounds in that when you cloak them the first shot will have a 200% or so penetration bonus and 150% damage bonus (i think) but then every shot afterwards will be normal until the gun cloaks again.

On a side note, I'd rather have cloak with no first strike than a 57 with AP rounds.

It's 7 seconds to re-cloak iirc. Too lazy to look up what it's in there as.

Well the way we built it was so that The Pak could fire one shot, get the first strike bonus, and not be able to fire a second shot while getting the same bonus.

It should be, first strike, regular shot, first strike, regular shot. Which I believe is about 7seconds between the first shot and the third shot.

Anyhow.. the only way to gain a constant first strike bonus from the pak.. is to fire it.. hold fire until it re-cloaks... and un-hold fire once it's cloaked to gain another 'AP' round.

So am I to understand that ya get 2 lame times to use AP with loooong cool downs that require one to babysit a unit vs a pretty passive one that can be used every 10 seconds or so? Yeah you might have to 'activate' the cloaking device but then you can leave it alone with no timer.... oh and is there a timer on these AP rounds? I.e they only load fer 20 seconds?

Basically.

And AP rounds on a 57mm only counts for 2 shots. so you get 4 shots of AP rounds total with a 57mm.

The cooldown is generally too long for multiple uses in an engagement.

57mms get 3 shots maximum for the AP shot thing if you time the gun just right. In most circumstances involving immobilized/crippled/stickied tanks, you'll get a maximum of 2 shots per use.

In realistic circumstances, you'll get 1 AP shot off, the enemy tank will back off, and the rest of the shots will be wasted. The 57mm doesn't have a hold fire button and is highly visible, you see. If the 57mm is ever decrewed and remanned, your AP rounds are wasted as well. NOT true with the Pak.

The Pak also costs a little more than the 57mm to compensate. You should also be glad that you weren't here a month ago. The Pak used to be able to MOVE while cloaked, which made killing it that much more difficult. It's still pretty difficult to kill, but not like before.

There's really no point in comparing the pak to the 57 since they are shooting at different tanks.

Holy crap that needs tweaking.

1: Balance goes in the Balance thread. Make a well-reasoned good first post, survive the fanboys, and it might happen.

2: Play the game a little first. Well, play a few dozen games first, experience is always good. In fact, DO THIS FIRST if you haven't done so already.

3: There are more important things to do like doctrine implementation/tweaking. Even if you post in Balance, it's likely to be ignored until later.

I'm not arguing one way or the other, btw.

That should be placed in the balance thread named "rules in posting in balance"
