TBH, the random modes are there to get you used to when the warmap comes in.
Your side will be either on Offence, Defence or in Contested.
These 3 states will dictate what your chances are for each game type.
In vCOH, you can choose whatever you like. This isnt vCOH, its EIRR, where there is a war that decides whats going on, just like old EIR - where the attack / defend switched, and the war *meant* something.
The random chance is there, and its there to stay.
In saying that, there will be 'Scenarios' which are exactly what they say they are, except that you sign up, and you dont know who you will be playing with or against - ala instant matchups.
These will be attack / defend etc, with different (or larger) rewards, and may even impact the warmap.

Though in the meantime making a separate "random" type modifier would make you more popular :p

Nonsense. I would host games with a semi-randomizer on sometimes and off other times.
For instance, if a team has a skill advantage over the other, you could offer to put it on randomized [skilled team] attacks. Therefore it's a possible bonus to the slightly worse team.
