Allies should gain resources by capping beaches (some resources) and ports (even more resources). Axis should gain resources by keeping thier industrial areas (high resources) and territory (relatively low resources) in general.

I think this should be the general idea for resource management in the war.  Armies should fight over territory in general and 'Supply Stations' in particular.  Companies that are not in direct contact with a 'supply base' will not get resources, and will be cut off, doomed to drift away into bodies and tank husks.  (Or it could be very violent.  Who knows.)

There shouldn't be many 'supply bases' per side, or perhaps a couple of very large ones (many resources), severel more medium sized ones (a fairly large amount of resources) and lots of small ones (not so much res).

Larger supply bases should be located towards the very rear, so this way even if one side is dominating, it won't be such a slippery slope.  The winning side may have a small resource bonus (and the other team a small resource penalty) but not so huge as to negate tactics as a winning factor.  When one side starts capturing major supply bases (like ports) then the loosing team will finally get a massive resource drop, which is the way a war map strategy should be, IMHO. What scope is the Warmap going to be on? It would be nice to think we can have the entire of europe with Meditarrian bases for the yanks and even though we cant have Italian forces (not that they did much in the war) we can still fight over the resource rich lands of italy and into southern germany.

Additionly will airborne companys be able to paradrop in behind the "Static" front lines? They may not be able to keep those zones but instead "Disable" the resource production for a round.

We've got a lot of theory lying around in the development forum, it's been thought about alright.

Don't be such a necro nug.
Yes there was talk of a warmap even in the early development stages of EIR, though it's NOT the same warmap that is being worked out now. We actually had several different attempts over the years, but since its such a complex and massive undertaking we never really got one out. (Not to mention that the game had to be more or less in a proper state first, there were usually more pressing things)

This time it'll be different though, I can feel it!

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.
