Fairly expensive for what it does?

Anyone actually use these and feel they are priced right?

*edit: found out that geschutzwagon mg is free now. nice.

Nope, I rather spare the ammo for a real HMG.

On Medium tanks on the other hand, like P4 i buy it if i can afford it.

.50 cal on M18 is utterly useless... I'm using 1 M18 in my company but it's just not AI tank and this thingy doesn't help that much - shrecks will still rape you etc. imo...

The main problem with the m18 is that the 50.cal fucks up your cloak.
If you drive to the enemy tank and pop cloak so you can get that one bonus shot off buying a 50cal negates that
tat like buying a 4th man on an mg team, it does damage and increases survivability but not unless you can see individual pixels on your screen. an average AT shot does 50 pixels damage.

pixels damage? huh?

but yea, the stupid .50 will fire while in cloak, and theres just no reason to buy this thing, should make it cheaper or free cuz it is utterly useless. If it did more damage and acted as a "gtf away from me" weapon, it'd be great but it's just there for aesthetics like hull mg's.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I personally feel that the MG upgrades on primarily AT units should cost less than on dual purpose or AI units.

A Pz IV with an MG42 is much nastier than a STuG with MG42. Just like a Sherman with .50 is much worse than an M18 with .50.

Yes it’s nastier because it’s a P4 but the MG on the StuG is actually better. The P4 MG is also weak compared to the one on the Sherman.

Just like a Sherman with .50 is much worse than an M18 with .50.

Doesn’t this contradict your statement of dual purpose AI being better?

Agreed. Even though a stug basically has the same gun as a p4, just no turret.

lol, sorry Pauli, miss typed.

The Sherman with .50 is BETTER than the m18 with .50.

The STuG MG42 is the same as the P4 MG42, it just doesn't shoot every direction.

The STuG gun is actually very different Tym, it is worse vs infantry, and gets bonuses to damage vs m10 and shermans if I recall.

No they are different MGs.

The StuGs MG does 25% more damage and 4 times the suppression (in comparison to P4)
The Sherman MG does 75% more damage and 2-4 times the suppression (in comparison to P4)

Ah, my mistake.

Either way, its still a less efficient weapon platform for the MG.

All allied units with an upgradeble MG turret uses the same MG.   The M18/Sherman/M8/Staghound all have the same gun.

Generally speaking the MG's impact is most felt on units with the worse main gun.   Eg: staghound and M8.   M18's problem is the MG will reveal itself from cloak.

I feel something is wrong
I could swear the guns are different

3 things that prove so:
Turret rotation and 50.cal rotation vary. The more you target  inf the better the 50 is.
staghound suppresses like 2 50's. It can't be the same one.
the halftrack 50 doesn't have 360 rotation.

i dunno, the m8's .50 cal seems more effective, I gte a lot of infantry kills with it, but then again a lot come from the .50 cal weakening infantry and the gun taking out 2 or 3 of them by splash so meh.

They are not, I've looked in the game files.  There are only two different turret mount MGs in the entire allied arsenal.

The M8/stag/M18/sherman all use the same MG, the halftrack uses an upgraded version with twice the accuracy but only half the arc of fire(can't rotate 360 degrees).

The staghound suppresses well due to its two coaxial MGs, those do little damage but output quite a bit of suppression, which, when combined with the American turret MG, suppresses quite well.
