It seems like hellcats often drive up and cloak before each shot, even if they've been in combat within the last 10s. Normally cloaked units reveal for a time period after all engagements. Am I seeing things or is this going to be worked on?

I don't believe I've seen them cloak IN combat before.

There is a toggle that does not allow hellcats to cloak in combat.

However you can drive into range and quickly cloak before the first shot to get the bonus, paks can do this as well.

I don't think this is really a major issue.

It is not broken, you're probably seeing what Gamesguy is point out: the fact the hellcat quickly runs up and cloaks right before it shoots (thus is still out of combat) to get that bonus shot in.

It's also hard to do. If you've got line of sight on the target you've got to hit the cloak button fast.

its not broken but its retarded. everytime u drive up to a hellcat (or the hellcat to you) it cloaks, booom, cripples the p4 to 2/3 HP, moves back, is save.

it shouldnt be able to cloak if theres an enemy unit in its LOS.

Some people tend to do this over and over.  So you'll see them ever 30 seconds drive up, cloak and shoot you.  I think they are right, mostly, they do it in combat.  Unless your firefight has lasted more than 30 seconds, they might sneak in near the end and do it again.  So it would seem like it was in combat.

how come people are complaining about it on the hellcat when it's been like that on the pak forever?

I was about to say that too Wild! You beat me to my post like 5 seconds before i hit reply!

The pak does that, so does that make it equally 'retarded'? Of course not,, just like how a cloaked, walking PAK gun can sneak up in front of your Sherman tank... heh.

And don't forget, unvetted Hellcats also tend to have sucky penetration, and there have been many times where my ambush shot 'bounced'  Cry

But a pak it doesn't cloak if it's just been engaged. I'm talking about driving up and getting a first strike bonus when it's already been fighting. The camo doesn't always animate, but I am suspicious that the bonus is still applied just because the ability was toggled.

Pak does cloak if it has been engaged.  Often paks cloak in the middle of an AT gun duel.   The only qualifiers on cloak is a certain amount of time has passed since the weapon has last fired and no enemy units are revealing it.

Modifiers are not applied unless the unit is invisible.

Good luck pulling off a hetzer cloak and ambush, beleave me, I've tried.

I'm not saying a pack can't do it, the most annoying thing about the M18's abuility is that it can do it super fast.

Roll in and cloak before you can say "Oh NOOS," unless your fighting, the pak will roll in in about the time it takes for FOO to fall from teh sky after the cloak.  One you can respond to, also teh M18 gets also sorts of stack bonusi, really the thing to could two hit a Hetzer witch is far worse than the 5-6 hits a pak would need.

Hetzer only has 400hp, 4 shots of a PAK, 2 shots from a vet 3 AP round using Hellcat with the first being Ambush.

Not a big deal, it doesn't work after combat has started, but you can technically shoot and scoot, to come back and do it again.

Thats how M18s were used historically, to great effect as well.
