Hey people. I've lurked on the board for a while now watching the mod. I've seen the 4 shoutcasts that are in the video section and would really like to give the mod a go.

I play CoH a bit with a friend against AI (shock horror) and do a 1vs1 auto match every now and again. I consider myself at least semi competent at vanilla CoH (I also lurk at the forums over on GameReplays). But this mod just seems really really daunting. I mean; I've set up a company, and I've even tried a game (in which me and my team mate were savagely beaten by flamethrowers in half tracks.

Anyhow, my point is, where do I start? Is there a way I can get shown the ropes of the mod so to speak, set up a basic company etc?

You have vent set up?  If so, you can catch me on there (Lionel23 is my name obviously) and I can help walk you through company creation and play a few games with you to teach you the ropes, alright?

Hi as well, welcome.

One thing i found when coming to this mod around 7 months ago was the difficulty of the mod is far, far above the difficulty of Company of Heroes.  You'll be most likely to start out with a few losses, but people on ventrillo will show you how to play really well, and just by watching what the enemy does to you you can also learn.

Just be reminded that almost all of the Unit Stats (except for most infantry) have been changed significantly, eg. many Panzer Elite vehicles are immune or much more resistant to small arms fire, some abilities are much better in this mod since they don't incur a cost (e.g BAR Suppression Fire) and the aim of the game is not so much to capture more territory than them first, but to make them retreat/kill as more enemy squads than you lose.

Just go to smokaz.  He's a pro player.

But also significantly less pro.

Just go to Smokaz, he's one of the only people I trust to be both good enough and friendly enough to help new players set up killsauce companies. I'm one or the other these days, but usually not both at once.

Also be ready to lose a lot if you don't have a pro buddy to cling to, happened to me.

We are serious about enforcing this, and I am sure you all want to be able to have your balance thought considered by the development team with some biased, sensationalist coming into your thread and ruining it.
