I understand many players will despise this idea but I think it is a good idea so here it is.

Make a simple ability similar to the PE grenadier blob ability that debuffs men that are close together.

The more soldiers that are close together they get a slight increase of incoming damage.

Blobs will suffer and players will be more likely to spread their troops out in a line rather than keep them in a mob.

Reasons:

It's realistic: People are easier to kill when they are mobbed.
It will make battles look cooler: Like real battles.
It should tone down the tactic of mobbing vet doctrine buffed infantry.
It will encourage tactical use of soldiers.

Ok comments please  Smiley
I doubt this would get used and all the infantry blobbers will probably hate it but as I said earlier I think it is a good idea.

BLobs are easier to kill. an mg supressed, a mortor round supressed, plus has more liklyhood to kill.

Is things liek auras that give blobing more effectiveness, captains, Terror officers, heroic charges....

Puddin' spamtm is soulcrushing... what's hard to understand about that?

But as of now small arms spread along a line are worse or equal to a blob of small arms.

Only suppression and area damage hurt blobs right now.

yes, and you should always have a way to deal suppression and area damage if you suspect you're playing blobbers...

I think anti blobbing tactics are abundant in EIRR, but I wouldn't mind this being implemented as it rewards good and well not "realistic" micro (sometimes they did storm in a lot of numbers) but definitely logical use of your units. It wouldnt affect me anyways unless two squads of any type are suddendly considered a blob.. and how would you even go about implementing it with the different squad sizes in the game.. 12 grenadiers together definitely starts to look like a blob, 12 rifles not even close.. you'd have to have a different blob modifier for each faction.

Tbh PE just needs a mg.

it can't be based off number of units either, because a bunch of 1-man zeal grens running around together would still only be like 4-5 guys...

I assume it can count entities too, (not just squads)

I think you indirectly have answered the question. You could not base it on the number of guys. It would have to be based on the number of units. 3 units of rifles, 3 units of grens...so on.
I think we would all agree that 2 is not blobbing. Three, while maybe not a Blob, is getting damn close. Over 3 imo is a blob.
I think 3 units should start to feel the negative effect and over 3 should get down right nasty.

I think this is one of the best anti blob tactics ever brought up. I truly feel only Blobbers will have a problem with this solution.

Maybe the closeness of the infantry should play in rather, making the aura really small but making microing all 900 of your guys to stand on each other's toes give all those squads horrible modifers to received damage and received accuracy. This would be a good idea since a tradeoff from square selecting all your units is that your guys will usually run into and on top of each other.

problem is with grouping and lack of formations in vCoH. it isnt like you can tell your men to form line or column or v formation. you pretty much are forced to blob because managing individual squads is too much for noobs to take on let alone experienced players.

you're not forced to blob actually...there are plenty of ways to take out positions without blobbing.  There are also plenty of ways to deal with blobs already in the game.  PE doesn't need an MG, it has plenty of ways to deal with blobs.  I'm tired of people wanting to mirror balance everything...
