Just had an interesting thought. What if there was a howitzer ability that halved the timer but fired 2 shots instead of 6, so it'd be like a tactical shot but there's a good chance you dont even hit your target. Maybe it can be like an on-map precision strike, 60 second timer, 2 shots and 100% accuracy. For comparison on accuracy, Hummel has 100% so it wont be exact unless you have great sight, hummels suck when you fire into FoW

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

Gives more tactical deal for the 105mm. I'd like to see it on Priests and ESPECIALLY on 25 pndr.

Seems pretty powerful to me - if this were done, a large cost increment for the howitzer should follow, as it would not only overtake the role of the sniper, but also become an excellent nebel/mortar buster.

That sounds like a certain blitz doctrine offmap??? I think I read somewhere around the forum where people were discussing about a possible 100% accuracy single shot with full timer...

The first few shots are the most powerful with a howitzer, whereas the last shots tend to be wasted since the enemy has cleared the area. So it's not much of a drawback only firing 2 shots.

Think what it would be if howies had reload like, let's say 30 seconds, if you wait more you accumulate 1 more shot every 30 seconds if you get what I mean.

yeah i could totally not enjoy a game where Allies defended and they called out and built a howitzer within the first 2 mins. at the 12 minute mark they could have used 24 single shell barrages. it's only the first 1 or 2 shells that do damage anyway, especially if you have LoS

which practically means, every axis nebel/mortar/other artillery unit that is crewable is destroyed. With the exception of Stuka/Hummel/Mortar halftrack.

ahh but 100% accuracy on a howwitzer piece isn't really 100% accuracy, just look at the hummel, four shots, 100% accuracy and it's really not all that accurate

I know that, 'm just saying that the ability wouldn't be that powerful but it'd be a short timer shot that you can use to get off a few quick shots when needed but it wont always hit.

Give it a bigger cooldown on that ability, or perhaps a prereq of having fired a normal barrage first (bracketing shots to increase accuracy).
It'd make a howitzer more viable than as an offmap target for once, though.

ahh but 100% accuracy on a howitzer piece isn't really 100% accuracy, just look at the Hummel, four shots, 100% accuracy and it's really not all that accurate If you program it to be - it would be actual 100 percent accuracy - which is what the OP suggested. Accuracy is only used when targeting entities - the barrage reticle isn't an entity. It's just the general area of bombardment, and then it's entirely the scatter angles that matter. The accuracy table isn't even referred to in the barrage cycle.
