I've thought about infantry-only games recently, and I think I'm liking the idea.  The massive infantry battles, imo, would be spectacular.  I want to do it but I'm not sure if anyone else wants to.  Anyone up for it?  (We would have to let PE have some vehicles like the MTHT, vampire, munitions ht, and maybe even the LATHT).  To make things fair, both sides should play on fresh accounts, and all PPs acquired should go towards either resource advantages or unit unlocks.  Having passive buffs for infantry and support teams would be a little too crazy, especially for new players who want to join this movement, and if we let Terror doctrine get all of the buffs then they would have a large advantage I think.  Feel free to get any doctrine abilities you want and use level 8 accounts if you wish Smiley

Who wants to do this?  I won't bother trying to get this rolling if I don't have any supporters.  I'll post a short rules list in case anyone has any basic questions:

Infantry-Only Rules:
All infantry is allowed
All support teams are allowed (including PE vehicle support teams)
Jeeps/bikes/schwimms are allowed for anti-sniper (still not sure about this one)
Howitzers and nebels are allowed, but Stukas and hotchkiss stukas are not.  Basically any vehicle based artillery (calliope as well) is not allowed.
Any infantry unlock is allowed (includes officers, 4 man kch, etc)
Off-maps are allowed (not sure about this one either)

More rules to come.  Who knows, maybe if everyone played infantry-only games then MGs wouldn't be a problem anymore because everyone would properly learn the art of the bait-and-nade or the smoke-and-nade or the bait-and-rush-with-5-squads-of-rifles.

This sound like fun. I would definitely be up for this if it doesn't die out before I get a chance to play again.

One thing to add though - because you are saying infantry only, the lack of crush might cause issues. A simple line of sandbags could be game over. Make sure to clarify rules like this before games begin, could otherwise lead to some games causing a lot of unnecessary anger.

Also, I'd personally say that Wehr > Brit > Ami > PE, with Brits being a close second, and PE being a far last (without doctrines, Falls will be deadly of course)

kind of silly IMO. Never liked it in vCoH.

Have fun tho. All those munis you save from not buying schrecks can go into stg44 toating stormtrooper death squads, ambush falls and support weapons which can dictate the fight with impunity.

Give me 3 MGs and a stg44 squad and ill beat your 5 riflemen.

British - Commandos maybe RCA cuz of Arty & Mortar Emplacement.
Wehr - Any, more than likely will see terror, then blitz then def.
PE - Luft, maybe SE because of Flame Grenz and off maps and healer.

I meant to mention the ATHT earlier, forgot about it when I thought of sandbagging the entire map so your opponent couldn't get out of his starting sector. They cannot be allowed for this. Focus Fire will destroy everything and it would be the most heavily armoured unit on the field, (only one with half decent armour really), making it the only unit that would necessitate AT to kill, not to mention its huge firepower. There is just no reason to include it, and it would be vastly overpowered.

@Shockcoil - Nobody brought up the IHT until you. The OP kind of allowed for it, but I think only noncombat PE vehicles would be appropriate, with the exception of the healing car.

@Smokaz - Yeah, if it were just infantry, I'd say so. However the axis support weapons will give the allies trouble, and since this includes those, axis will perform fine, I'm sure.

Originally I proposed this without any infantry buffing doctrine abilities, but I think it might still be pretty awesome with the infantry buffs so I'm gonna change it to allow doctrine abilities.

The general consensus is that Axis support teams are better than Allied support teams, but I think (and I'm sure Smokaz will agree) that it comes down to who can use the support weapons better, which is why I think the Allies still have a good chance in this type of gameplay.

I'm still not too sure about letting PE have MTHTs, LATHTs, Munitions HTs, and vamps because they take a significantly longer time to destroy than the infantry versions of them.

For Americans, it sounds about right except I think there will be generally an even amount of infantry and AB players, just because Fire-Up makes it a little easier to use AB than riflemen.

British is spot on I think.  RCA has the added bonus of +10 range on the rifles, which is fricking powerful in this type of gameplay, but zeal + IA is win as well.

Wehr I think we'll be seeing a little more Defensive than Blitz because of defensive officers + senior officers being pretty powerful.  Terror seems to still be the most powerful of the 3 doctrines in this game mode.

PE is spot on.

To me it doesn't matter.  People can make new accounts if they want to or they can just use their current ones.  If they have tank vet they could always remove all of the upgrades on the tank (to get the munis back) and use the munitions on infantry upgrades, leaving the tank in their battalion but not calling it on the field in these types of matches.  Granted they'll be down a small portion of their manpower, but that's just a sacrifice they have to make if they don't want to make new accounts.
