airborne doctrine

is there a way that this can be changed? why does my airborne infantry (non-classic) cost 100mp more than my ground based counter part? they both ave the same weopons. in my opinion they are not worth 100 more mp. i chose the airborne doctrine for a reason, so i can drop my troops from the air. airborn troops are not elite by any range of the imagination so why do they cost more. airborne mg and mortar cost a little more which is ok but why not the same. arborne infantry is to expensive

airborn armor??? have you ever seen an airborne troop go up agaist a regular volks unit? you cant fight a fly off your nuts with those. fire-up i can do with out its not worth 100 mp. bar stick and nades yes they do so does the groud conterparts. and the whole they drop from the air.. thats why i chose airborne doctrine.

The reason they cost 280 is because they have Airborne armor, Fireup, can paradrop, and will be effected by the Airborne doctrine abilities.
Airborne armor gives a -25% incoming Damage and an additional -25% incoming accuracy while the unit is moving.

it is the reason i chose the airborne doctrine. if i wanted to ground troops i would have got regular infantry. maybe they can be reduced in cost.

maybe you didn't read what he said full. -25% received accuracy -25% received damage. thats a massive gain for 100 manpower.
It means that 1 in 4 shots miss and that of every 4 shots that hit you receive damage as if it was 3. If i could bu that on grens or volks or assault grens I would pay 100 mp for it.

What you are seeing is the shitty gun AB use, you should ONLY use them for RR's in the current game. Once Doctrines are back in you can Unlock more AB units (medics, AB BAR squads, etc)

How would Airborne Riflemen lose to Volks if Riflemen are about equal with Volks?

Also another problem David which I pointed out in a game we played, you can't expect to also drop airborne on top of assault infantry or vehicles and expect them to live. The airdropping allows them to 'spawn' forward so they don't have to travel. Airborne elite armor is also superior to ranger armor (slightly better stats) and once doctrines come back in, airborne are tough as nails at what they do (kill things at long range). If you want close range action, stick with riflemen or US infantry company.

Actually, there's quite a bit of misconceptions apparent here. For instance - ranger armour is better than airborne armour because it doesn't require the rangers to be moving to use the buff.
And airborne armour is FAR From a flat out 0.75 damage and moving 0.75 accuracy multiplier.
Below are the actual values, straight from the RGDs.
1)Definition on whether or not there is a buff is done when consulted with the weapon's modifiers against riflemen. No buff at all = riflemen get the same modifiers.
2)Listed them from "best buff" to "worst buff".
K98/G43 - the stated Moving accuracy and damage buff.
MP40s/MP44s - only a moving accuracy buff
P4 IST - 0.8 accuracy compared to riflemen.
StuH - 0.8 accuracy compared to riflemen.
LMGs - no buff at all.
Vierling - no buff at all.
20 mm Puma - no buff at all.
Hotchkiss - no buff at all.
Wirblewind - no buff at all.
Ostwind - no buff at all.
Tiger - no buff at all.
50 mm Puma - no buff at all.
P4 Long Barrel - no buff at all.
StuG - no buff at all.
Panther - no buff at all.
Flamethrowers - no buff at all.
Hetzer MG - no buff at all.
AC MG - no buff at all.
FG42 - no buff at all.
Hetzer gun - no buff at all.
Jagdpanther gun - no buff at all.
King Tiger gun - no buff at all
IHT MG - takes 15 percent MORE damage than riflemen.
PE AC 20 mm - has 33 percent more incoming accuracy.
Hotchkiss upgun - has twice as much incoming moving accuracy.
So, in fact, you're paying 100 more manpower for armor that helps againt rifles, MP40/44s and StuHs/ISTs, while making you WORSE against IHTs, PE ACs and Hotchkisses. So it's a double-edged sword if the enemy decides to spam either IHTs or ACs. You do, however, get 15 more HP per man, which is quite good.
You're also getting a
severe
downgrade in weaponry - the M1 Carbine of the airborne is roughly 33 percent worse than the M1 Garand of the Riflemen in terms of DPS. You're also not allowed to have BARs on standard airborne. Taking on infantry with standard airborne... is inadvisable, at best.
And you get fire-up. Is fire-up worth it? Not by a long-shot, in my opinion, other than to get out of a nebelwerfer barrage or a surprise MG42 burst - the slowdown you get hit by once you've used your fire-up is pretty severe.
So, you pay 100 more MP for 15 more HP per man, fire-up, a downgrade to your anti-infantry weaponry and the ability to para-drop. Frankly, the 100 more MP wouldn't matter to me, it's the ludicrous 4 pool that gets my undies in a twist.

That's why I said standard airborne, not airborne riflemen, which nobody has access to at the moment, anyway.

Most of the time your AB tuck and run from Puma's and AC's, they chew up IHT's and most of the other vehicles listed it's worth their time to sit there and fire at them. so the no bonus thing is rather irrelevant against those. They are still worth it to heft around RR's

That wasn't my point. My point was that the whole "AB armor is uber" statement is flawed.
