trying to find out if kar98s in cloak actually outDPS fg42s in cloak in any situations. anyone got any input on this its appreciated. basic premise is the fact that the kar98 already gains a lot more damage from cloak than the fg42 does, and that they both are able to recloak because of reload, wind down etc

I think it would be safe to judge just with the information provided to use in the OP that the volume of fire that can be produced by an FG42 greatly makes up for the damage discrepency seen between the two weapons when compared on a single shot basis.

FG42 = 7 dmg / acc. @ L/M/S = .2/.45/.75
Kar98 = 12 / acc. @ L/M/S = .35/.55/.75

Cloak bonuses= acc. = x1.25 / dmg = x1.25

What you seek can maybe only done through doctrines, but i would be hard pressed to find a PE luft doctrine that didnt affect FG42s as well as the PE_Kar98.

maybe you'll have better luck if falls can use the G43 again, like they could in the last doctrine write up

That's not enough numbers to make an accurate calculation of DPS.

something weird i see that a kar volley in enough numbers can outright suppress units.

In a single skirmish you will ambush more often with the Kar98s, I think. I used to run vanilla Falls before they had doctrines and something about the Kar got me all hot n horny

If kars really outperformed Fgs than that would be very nice considering that the mun costs add up.

AFAIK the FJ kars were buffed to perform much better in ambush a long time ago, I'm not sure if it was ever fixed.

well of course short range fg's are the best but the kar works at all ranges so if an enemy unit will be out the fg's top performance envelope and is moving by you, you have to chase it, if it's the kar, you can fire from range and still hit.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

@Tym:

FG42s are the best infantry automatic weapons in the game at long range, they're not exactly SMGs or StG44s.

They were pretty good with Kars when they still had the old ambush. Right now I would only use them with FGs.

Oooo a topic i know alot about!! Grin
The unfitted Fjs works real well L->M range, But due to reload time, Fg42 is much more effective in M->S range. Also because of the bigger unit sizes of allied squads and dmg disperssion the fg42 is not as effectiv when cloaked/decloaked as kar98 is, of curse i do not have any numbers just a lot of combat experience since i play them A LOT! Cheesy

With fg42s you want them to get up as close as possible before opening fire.

As staded when they get as close as possible personaly i hit the hold fire button so they don get the ingeniuse idea of firing on a passing stag. Also its not always ideal to take a chance, if its only one squad let it pass, wait untill u can atleast get 2 squads, dont underestimate your fjs they can esialy take on 2 up to even 4 squads of american inf in CQ combat when you jump out of cover, just 2 more things, be certain to have AT and support behind and dont let them focus on one of them click attack on the different squads so they get thinned out cause if you try and kill one beofre u focus on the others they will ahve already started doing enough dmg for it to be hard to kill them to. A real tip is hide next to bad cover situations so when u jump out they get surpressed Smiley

and if you find some other weapon(like bren,bar...)with them,is it ever worthy to pick it up? not only with them,but also with assualt squods etc. who dont have basic rifles? since when u pick it up,I see that they gain another bonus to troop dmg(+1 or +2)
