Okay, in response to Mys statement that stickies always penetrate, best I could do was make this replay demonstrating stickies (wish I had the one where it just killed the panther gunner), unfortunately my company is using Tank Reapers so the results were harder to produce.

Anyway, during the testing there were a handful of times the sticky hit and did zero damage but explodes (and yes I've seen stickies miss and no stickies flew off the map here).  If stickies always penetreate, how come it explodes and not a single bit of HP drops on the tanks during some of the testing, and this wasn't when it was at 5% (which we all know is the 5% bug).

Now I say stickies are high CHANCE engine crit weapons, but they don't always do anything (sometimes explode and do no engine damage or vehicle damage).  I have Lefort, Jodomar, Velocity, and Maysauze having witnessed this on many occassions before, will be on the lookout of those replays once I run into those games again.  And when I spoke to a dev (forgot who) before the doctrine wipe when I asked why the heck do sticky bombs need to be included on Tank Reapers, because they aren't exactly fausts and pretty much almost always hit, he told me it was for the higher penetration to reduce the 'blank' hits from sticky bombs.

Around the 20:30 mark there was a sticky that didn't penetrate the panther.

Stickies are effective..... critical hits are based on health. They don't need to be included in Tank reapers.I can see sticky spam, bazooka spamming, bar riflemen spam going off the hook if they do.

It happens they won't always penetrate thats why we play COH because it's probability.

Computer, I know you didn't play old EIR(at least I don't think), but back then, when tank reapers was hilariously OP(something like 70% modifiers on all that stuff), it wasn't uncommon for players to run rifles/atgs only companies...I vaguely remember watching a replay of 3(i think all 3 did it) riflespamming americans on Abbeville.  It was insane...there were at least 120 rifle squads in that game...

Yeah i did play EIR, stuff like that is why i took a break. I could remember my P4 getting raped by 1 ATG shot and my stugs getting 1 shotted.

old reapers were 80% health, damage and penetration, it was ridiculous.

i was one of those at + rifle companies, basically it wasl ike 50 rifles, some 2-3 hmgs, a mortar, 2 shermans and 6 at guns.

Just chiming in here to corroborate lionel23. I don't always agree with him, but it's true that stickies don't always crit (I'm not 100% about doing no damage, but I think that happens too). Whether this is penetration or for some other obscure reason, I don't know. Not many days ago I got a sticky off on a panther front, dealing gunner killed in green health. Then, when cooldown was ready again, I got another on the same panther (yeah, whoever that was wasn't too careful...), no crit (whoever that was was also very lucky, apparently). Not certain whether the second one did damage, didn't watch as it went off, just saw it without engine damage right afterward.

The chance of engine damage is high enough to be relied on as a vehicle disabler (which can really mess with a plan when it doesn't work), but it's not 100%.

there is a VERY! High chance, like 99% of the time stickies will crit every vehicle except... Panthers and KT's are notoriously the only units that are affected by the supposedly 80% chance it might get crit. Dude we ALL have witnessed those moments. but seriously luck dude? its all about luck and at those moments make the game good. its like playing russian roulette, crossing your fingers on those last moments hoping not to get a crit engine damage.

Now i dont want to nit pick lionel. but really? whining ( i cant think of a better word) about the crit tables of stickies.

like seriously dude that is one many abilities in COH that is not broken.

instead of a long winded explanation, analysis and throwing out sources of evidence, why dont you just plain and simply saying "I want stickies to have 100% chance to engine damage everything" I could of accepted that Line far better.

I never, not once asked for stickies to have higher crit or be improved in any way. I'm not asking for 100% crit, I'm merely correcting the notion that stickies are a guarenteed engine damage, which they are not.  They are just merely high chance.

Ok i completely get you now

your using proof to point out that any notion of people thinking stickies is 100% guaranteed is false.

I don't think you realise the difference between penetration and a critical.

When the gunner dies - the sticky penetrated. It just rolled a critical to kill the gunner, not the engine.

What may seem like a non-penetration is more likely to be a sort of AoE splash miss(like when a howitzer shell lands near some infantry and does nothing to it), mostly likely brought about by vehicle cover.

And someone was saying 100% engine crits, which if it kills a gunner or - worse - it explodes and does nothing to the tank.

Explain to me Mys if its a miss if the tank is moving and the bomb follows it? That to me indicates a 'hit' as a miss sticky bomb flies off the screen.

There are two kinds of missing, lionel.
One is applied to all weapons : when the weapon rolls a miss and the projectile completely fails to hit any unit along it's way.
The other is applied to splash damage weapons : The Area of Effect has differing(or not) accuracies depending on the splash range. Once the sticky blows up, it can roll a splash damage miss onto it's target, dealing no damage to it. I've once actually seen two tanks bunched together, the sticky exploding and failing to damage the tank it was thrown on, but injure and damage the engine on the tank next to it.

Let me interpret for you. By miss, lionel is referring to the hedges and houses that the stickies constantly miss, and fly through to their target. Sorry for any misunderstanding.  Wink
