Apart from the Offtopic at the end there, this thread was very nice and informative for new and older players alike. Perhaps you should suggest that the first part of this thread (page 1) this is moved to strategy, groundfire?

I've been bumping and posting in strategy forum lately to spike some interest being a mentor and a newbie helper and all, and I approve of the idea behind this thread very much. I've even made a wehr counterpart. Maybe someone will put up some suggestions as to what units are very good/popular to have in brit/PE armies as well.

It's kind of sad how much your company matters these days. In the good old days a balanced company could basically beat anything as long as your play was superior.

I'm still convinced balanced companies can beat anything provided there's a good player behind it.
It might be easier to play specialised companies and win for some but it's definitely not 'better'

The specialized companies work after the hardcounter design. They spam you to death if you don't have good counters to their focus on single-minded spam. If you do control their vehicle blob, their tank rush or their infantry blob by using combined arms, it pretty much fails. That said it can be much much harder to beat 25 pop of infantry coming towards you with a balanced build, than it is to actually execute the attack itself for the other player.
