Pvt. Martins and Sergeant Godspeed’s Report. Light Recon unit.
“There’s a bunch of krauts occupying Abbeville. There’s very little activity in the left to Chateau but heavy activity on the city. It looks like they’ve brought some panzers too. Looks like Model four, should be a piece of cake to our anti tank guns and M10 tank destroyers…there seems to be couple of heavy MG42s occupying the church and few of the houses. Damned krauts blew up a house over there. We are continuing our spotting over.” – Sgt Godspeed
Middle of a Day
Three infantry regiments approach the Abbeville. Heavy ranger platoons moving onward in order to re-take Abbeville. The HQ had granted field artillery support in form of a 105mm.
Combat begins
Lightly mechanized infantry unit was forced to hold the ground. German Officer called in bombardment in order to dispose most of the heavy support the mechanized unit carried.
The Chateau was under heavy assault by a similar mechanized unit. Rate of success was high.
German Panzer four was caught up during combat and destroyed by Ranger platoon. Promotion was in order.
“This is 105 crew! We are engaged by a fuckin’ Recon unit! Send help! Puma is engaging us I repeat Puma is engaging us over!” Radio screams and echoes through the high command. Infantry towed medium Anti tank gun took care of the Puma.
The Middle day turns to dusk…
Abbeville is in ruins, heavy bombardment and fierce anti tank usage left the village in ruins. “This is ranger squad! Taking fire! They are slaughtering us Help us *SSHH*” Radio Silence.
HQ Generals shook their head. “Go boys! Capture their ground! Use every last manpower to capture the ground!”
“This is Sherman crew- We are engaged by a panther, requesting immediate support over! Oh Shit ENGINE we lost the engine it’s on fire arwarhh *SHHH*” Radio screams for a moment: “We got it! It AINT Moving anywhere from THAT!” – Random rifleman’s voice overheard from radio.
All communication was cut off with the field howitzers.
Field Hospital reports several casualties. Some had a headshot by a sniper. HE round and bullet wounds.
