Ok, the subject of my mapping madness and latest 12 hour jaunt through worldbuilder...

My second map, eva.

The LINK!!

Newest version- Moved player 7-8 spawn, it is now on the east side of the map, between the chateau and the church areas along the road. Reason, equally quick access to objective areas, allows players 5-8 to assault from 2 directions unlike previous spawn.

Details on all areas yet to be added, splatting yet to be done, but you folks can test it out. Updates will be coming soon to increase overall quality.

Screenies:

Not sure, that last shot is my favorite... I had one of Airborne on fire, but it didn't quite turn out...

I would have gotten more but COH crashed during the replay...

Sick map! A very large area like this combined with only a couple of important, wide spread objectives to take is realistic and allows for infinite strategies, and it makes all other maps look like overcrowded kindergarden playgrounds! Dont know why, but playing this map feels kinda surreal, in a good way.
You just invented a whole new style of EiR map building..

Couple of suggestions:

- Objectives: South and east are a bit objectiveless. The barn with the tower in the south and the big building in the dark green field in the east would be good candidates, and maybe the house to the right of the church on the other side of the river, if u put a crossing there.
Maybe fortify them a bit, so they look important.

- river crossings: the bridge needs to be bigger. But what i wouldnt do is making the river too easy to cross.
The centre Bridge and 2 additional crossings(vehicles can drive over them as well), one in the north at the church and one in the south near the barn would be good. The canal should be a boundary good to defend, but also breakable with a combined assault, 3 big crossings would make this possible, with many small ones everyone can just sneak by everywhere.
Maybe add an infantry crossing in between each of the big crossings, but keep the objectives near the big crossings to show their importance

- church needs another model. only one window to the south is not enough
- some of the water runs really fast for some reasons

There are a couple of areas on this map that might create bottlenecks, but once players realize all the space they got to maneuver around this should be fine.
Watchout for the cpu power while creating the detail.
I would also try to make realism more important on this map than comfortable Gameplay. War´s Hell!

Chateau done, water crossings should be done, capture points added, Church in progress....

After that, splats and splines but all playable elements should be in.

Bit too early for a beta imho.

I'd rather see more betas AFTER details have been added so people get to actually enjoy it, else the map will feel pretty basic anyway and people get a wrong feel. Not to mention that beta is a "near ready" Smiley.

Just my 2 cents of course but I'd really like to encourage people to rush "betas" less, it seems like you all are pulling out new map betas daily but it makes me wonder about the actual quality. Take you time... a quality map is supposed to take a lot of time and effort Smiley.

Looking good so far though, keep it up.

It's a great map, even in beta. He releases his betas to get gameplay info, less about polish. Though some more splining may have been in order  Tongue

Well that's just my opinion, people expect a pretty near finished map in beta stage from what I can tell and they're already not that eager to try out custom maps so it's important you can impress them with beta maps early on.

its near ready, layout is a much bigger task than detail, thats quick.

besides, why waste another 5-6 hours detailing a map thats layout just doesn't work, especially on a theoretical one like this?

I felt there was enough polished areas to show off how it will be when its done, while allowing me to get ideas and feedback from the community.

And the updated Church area, near final, little bit more detail needed.

About 20 hours near constant work so far. Next up, finish detailing, add splines to fields, make Skunker splat it.

Due to cultural innaccuracies with the church complex, its being redone.

Expect nunnery or monastery to appear behind it tomorrow.
