Dear EiRR community, I have exciting news!
Mysthalin, founder of the Mysthalin Doctrine proudly presents :
Mysthalin Doctrine.
Now, most of you are fully aware of my signature, as well as it's deep meaning. What most of you did NOT know, is that, in fact, it's not just a doctrine. It's an entire new playable faction in EiRR, due for release in 009, as a reward for donators and contributors. You will be able to use these companies on either side of an engagement. Finally your volks could begin facing off against men of their own glorious stature - other volks.
Now, a quick overview of the Mysthalin Doctrine :
It will feature three different "Corps" - Riflemen, Volksgrenadiers and Panzergrenadiers. I guess it's misleading, but it's actually pretty simple. Faction = Doctrine, and Doctrine = Corps. Not all that difficult.
The faction will be played severely different to all the other factions. First off - there's no company building. You will simply be given 60 squads of the mainline infantry, all equiped with :
Riflemen : Stickies and Grenades.Panzergrenadiers : Incendiary and Magnetic AT grenades.Volksgrenadiers : Fausts and Grenadier Grenades. It may seem a bit unfair - 60 infantry squads? That's quite a bit more resources than any company from any other faction has. While this is an understandable complaint - keep in mind you are not given any support weapons, you are not given any tanks, and you will have to do without any light vehicles. All you will have is the mainline infantry.
The upgrades will also work somewhat differently, in order to make the new faction playable.
They will no longer be use-based, but would feature a 60 second cooldown. All the abilities are exclusive(so you can throw a nade and a sticky in quick succession). Hopefully this will add a new and interesting dynamic which will teach people about the importance of preserving your, albeit cheap, but valuable men.
Veterancy will also be a thing of the past - it's a mainline infantry company, and each man is his friend's equal. But there is still much to do. The company must prove it's worth and devotion to high command. Therefore "experience"(in this case renamed "Devotion") is now global - and is awarded for each enemy unit killed, as well as for your men valiantly dying on the field of battle.
Using your accumulated Devotion you will be able to call down various off-maps you've unlocked : so don't be surprised to find a dev cost, as well as a recharge time(but no use limitation) on the bottom table unlocks.
The devotion values are as follows :
You will get 0.5 Devotion for each of your infantry men lost.
You will get 1 Devotion for each enemy infantry man killed.
You will get 3 Devotion for each enemy vehicle and support weapon killed.
You will get 10 Devotion for each enemy tank killed.
There will be NO devotion bonuses for back-capping, vethunting or otherwise being annoying towards the enemy.
The doctrine system will be fairly the same, with various buffs to your... in-elaborate unit roster. There will be 3 trees, each going up to a T4, and 3 trees for unlocks.
Resource Advantages will simply add 3 infantry squads per purchase.
And now - the moment you've all been waiting for. The first sneak peak for the first of the Corps to be released. I present to you - the Volksgrenadier Corps :
Excuse the somewhat sketchy quality of the picture - it is but one of the first drafts. If you have any good ideas on how to change this doctrine, or perhaps ideas for the other two(previews coming soon) - feel free to post them.
