I used them before the new launcher came out. You just throw one down between you and the MG and position your troops behind it and charge up to the smoke and then throw another smokenade and close in and then throw a real grenade into the house. Smoke had no cooldown in it and it was only 10 mun so you could buy it to every squad. It is Get in, Get out card. If you know there is a MG, throw the smokenade down and run up to it.

The smoke was awsome and granted me several victories. The standard MG in house and mortar behind it was easy to counter with smokenade rifles with/without flamer along with them.
