Mainly used for Recrew but a 5man squad with SMG's ain't half bad in a pinch.

I think they also build basic defenses

They use the pio mp40 but at close range i think they are pretty much equal to a rifle squad.  They get sprint at vet 2 which is nice and its pretty easy to vet them up.
