can these uber cheap things,(60mu) which will instakill any unit inside a building without delay or warning be spotted?
(they also kill units around a building btw)

what happens if you place a minesweeper unit next to it?

anyway, even if it can be spotted it should still have a delay like the PE building traps.

You can actually see them on the ground floor of a building if the walls are blown off, not exactly stealthed heh.  And it's pretty expensive for 60 MU for a building only trap.  You can always hit buildings with arty to detonate the explosives beforehand. Maybe tank shots can detonate them too.

If anything, demo charges are one of the most underused and probably underpowered things in the game.

underused yes, but actually really strong.

how often did you spot demos compared to mines, etc? (in %)

Not very often due to their lack of use.  For 60 MU, you can buy two mines for 35 MU and just mine the door in front of a building AND still have another mine on a road or abandoned weapon. To me that's more practical over the 60 MU democharge that is, while powerful, relies on your enemy putting lots of guys in a building.

EDIT: That is something I avoid in my playstyle (1 infantry squad per building, MAYBE an MG team if there is a vehicle outside and use the infantry squad to screen the smaller team in the windows).  Which means since it is building only you'll never destroy mortars, paks, or tanks with them.  Just infantry squads and MG teams.

Or, for 70 munitions, you can have 4 mines that you can plant.. Just not worth it to buy demos atm

Agreed, more use and more chances to hit more targets with mines over demos.

Mines might be more efficient for the price, but they don't bring the same kind of rage with them that happens when someone loses 2 vet 3 volks in 1 blow.  Cheesy

only mines dont destroy infinate full HP squads at once.

if the SE t1 building trap would be like this, im sure everyone would be whining.

ofcourse, you could just not put 2 squads inside a building at once.
but that's like saying "well, i could just not attack at all so i wont run into atgs mgs or mines."

indeed this is completely correct.
it is acutally the same as with stafle run but then worse.
it's instant, completly unexpected and uncounterable.
stuff that destroys complete squads at once  dont fit in this persistency mod.

Well if that is so, then Tigers/Pershings and any arty is OP in that those can instant gib squads with little to no warning (lost a vet 3 ranger who got one-shotted by a tiger when the entire ranger squad was at full health, talk about unlucky!).

Maybe that's why it has such a high price as it does?  Just inefficient to me to get those though and rely on crippling an entire army over the course of the game instead of killing that one unit (one time demo over multiple mines placed all over).

Tell that to the guy who lost a full health vet 3 ranger squad to a single unvetted, no doctrine buff StuG shot at long range.

Holy shit how does that happen? Like all the rangers are in the same tiny, tiny crater when that is fired? Sheesh!

Exactly. Shit happens in CoH - it's the beauty of dicerolls. Removing them would just make the game boring and repetitive.

Not if the demo doesn't even get lain in the first place, or the house it's in gets killed by something else.

On that note, also hate how nebs have that chance to instant kill entire squads on a good hit on a building.

But yeah given the huge selection of arty for non-doctrine axis, those rounds can detonate the explosives in the buildings I believe from my experience.

thats all down to you.

dont put units inside buildings where you placed demos, dont put a mortar behind the building.
then there is no reason for your opponent to shoot that building.

i mean if u place a mine you're not gonna sit on top of that too.

Indeed I wouldn't sit on my own mine - but I'd still rather plant my 4 mines that will most definitely have more killing/harrasing power than demos ever will.

but the point of demos insta killing whole squads while the mine doesnt remains.
such weapons dont belong here.
