So, we've got names showing up on the leaderboard for the board accounts, next we need something in the launcher. It's getting annoying that there are people who will create a smurf account just to grief people or annoy people. Play in games against noob accounts so they can vet up quick etc. Its stuff like that that gives EIR bad press at times and it annoys the crap out of me, i join a game thinking it's a good even game but it's some twat with a smurf account who comes in with 10+ vet 3 infantry units on the field at once probably giggling to himself as he griefs down everybody elses vet units and finishes the game in 15 minutes, its just a pain in the butt.

so, what are the best way to counter smurfs? anybody have any ideas?

"I want proof!"
"I have proof!"
"Whatever, I'm still right"

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

why should someone smurf to "hunt down" noobz? sounds very illogical since everyone is "unkn0wnz" for a noob

Tymy, increase your fear factor to the point that no one dares to smurf you!

We started tracking people who use multiple accounts to smurf and we will have the account name show up in the battle screen eventually. I think it's likely that we will be moving towards a strict 'one account per player' policy in the future.

I use a battalion naming system for my companies, next reset Ill be going to 54th followed by my company name.

so 54thWaffenSS for my Germans
and 54thBrittishArmy for my Allies

I do it because for replay value I think it looks cool when you have army names instead of my usual handle Vivie.

I think a 1 account per IP address would be a good policy, I haven't met anyone on EIRR that plays with a room-mate and those one off situations can easily be explained and worked around.

It would be cool if each room had a "comments" option that would show when you mouse over it in the launcher, so new players could specify  "new player looking for other new players to get familiar with mod".

While I do think playing average skill players is the best for newbies. As they can watch strategy's used by team-mates and used against them. I am always willing to explain to new players why my calls in consist of things and what to be cautious of. Even the other day against Lionel's artillery spam I had our "newbie" time Howie shots, and after he informed me it had just fired elsewhere on the map I rushed and crushed the artillery camp that won us the game.

All and all.
1. account per player
2. Perhaps have account name show when you mouse over a player in lobby.

so for me it would be   vivie5 / 54thWaffenSS.

smurfing is so last year , all the cool kids play on one account now !

auto match here would not realy work , ingame you still would see your teammates and opponents and someone could leave.

Better to set game with everyone visible and start.

or

the auto match making should be with visible nicks

I must admit, I do find smurfing tedious. I don't really care who I play but its nice to know how you do against other players. I swear sometimes I can play the same guy 5 times in a week and not even know it.

There is really no reason any more why anyone would need multiple accounts in the first place.

I can understand some 'big shots' might be able to find games quicker if they smurf but quite honestly it's usually the level that scares off your opponents and very rarely the name. Yes there are some exceptions, I'm looking at you Aloha & Bigdick, but those really doesn't justify the need to smurf.

If the levels are relatively even then I'm good. I'll play anyone, despite reputation, as long as my account is on par with theirs. How else am I to get better?
