Hey guys,

Thanks to the first successful "ask the devs" podcast I put together last month, we at the PR team (I mean me in my little dark cave) have decided to create another for you guys, just to show what the path the mod is currently on.

So here's the topic: Im gonna be interviewing RGD lead BoBSmith, so the focus of this podcast will be on Balance, unit design and doctrines only.

The rules thus far are:
Ask your questions on the state of balance in EIRR, what the new doctrines will look like, what's getting buffed/nerfed, etc.

I fully expect Bob to stick his head in here sometime soon to tighten things up discussion wise, but atm, these are the topics.

Any blatant fanboyism posts or overly negative comments will be deleted, dragged behind a shed and shot without warning or trial, so keep this sane and civil; we all know how balance can get around here.

Top 10 questions get into the interview, so ask something worthy of discussion.

could this unit be added in eir?  Shocked

The last few days i have been working on a new building for the axis.
and it is finally done! The Propaganda tower:


The Propaganda tower is a doctrine unlock for terror. it can be build by a pioneer squad in friendly territory. costs are munitions.
The tower comes with an ability that will crush the morale of any enemy infantry that comes near it. the ability shows an animation + a random axis propaganda voice when activated(enemy hears voice too). The ability currently lasts for a minute, and in that time an iron cross will stay visible around the tower. also, any affected infantry will glow red. when infantry exit the aura or the tower is destroyed they turn normal again.
enemy infantry will be easier to suppress during the time of the ability. their rate of fire is also lowered slightly.
when the ability is over, it can be reactivated once recharged.
building two towers and then activating both at the same time wont stack the modifiers. it will be the same as one activated tower. it might be better if the tower costs population too.

the only things left that needs to be finished at it are:
a building image (currently you see purple)
description change. i wrote something down really fast, it doesnt look that good i think. ofcourse the description can also just be left blank.

1) When will War Map be implemented and
2) What Exactly is it?   I have heard only a few bits a pieces about what it is. Maybe this shouldn't be a dev question but maybe something someone from the community can create and put up as a guide (at least when the war map is released.)

3) When will some of the "not implemented" abilities be put in. Also, tank hunters ability for PE is allegedly not working at least for the vet1 buffs it gives. We know this isn't implemented yet but maybe my question is: When can we see these abilities starting to become implemented into the game.

4) Are there any crazy, unexpected changes (game play or otherwise) planned to come with any upcoming patches? (Like giving the Bergetiger a 95mm cannon.)

Thank you developers for your hard work and dedication as well. =]

Will terror get the Terror Officer back? A different Officer, similar to that one in a British Campaign that can throw propaganda papers to reduce enemy moral (aka exhaustion thing that comes after Fire up) and it'd carry a MP40 and yell sometimes random propaganda. Gives little accuracy reducement and suppression resistance to nearby troops.

That'd be epic imo

1) What is your own personal opinion of the balance in the mod? Would you think that any of the factions or doctrines are stronger than the others? If so - why do you think so, and what do you intend to do to fix it?

2) What would you point out as the most useless unit in EiR in terms of cost-efficiency? We all talk about blatantly OP things, but we rarely discuss the UP ones, so it would be an interesting twist to the standard "what's OP" question. You can point out any current unit, or any unit that strikes you as particularly crap from any other iteration of EiR - all up to you.

Devs could make something with the LeoPhone propaganda tower. And I want his we-do-not-know-how-this-bofors-can-move-but-it-is-amazing  in-game  Grin

May as well fire off a question or two,
I'm haven't quite got round to getting it yet (2pp and 10exp off getting it), But with the Terror Ambulance, have you thought about maybe allowing it to set up in some way (Call it a Field Hospital or some more German sounding variation of it) that allows a healing radius around it as maybe an upgrade on top of the unit for a bit more Munitions and Fuel (to represent getting the materials and supplies there), because well, I love to have a way to heal my Pak crews and maybe give my allies some healing Smiley

And will we ever see the return of any Unique kinda of units, like the Flammen PE squads that had 3 STG44's and a Flamethrower and those kinds of units, and if so, How would they implemented into the game?

I hear the Terror Ambulance is very cheap because they wanted it to only heal your infantry and nothing else. I'm pretty sure they don't want another thing that can global heal things.

That already exists in the game, Its called a Support Scout Car. Look at the T2 Scorched Earth unlocks.

And will we ever see the return of any Unique kinda of units, like the Flammen PE squads that had 3 STG44's and a Flamethrower and those kinds of units, and if so, How would they implemented into the game?
That is also already in the game. Its a T3 Scorched Earth Unlock.

Could you tell us something more about the upcoming reward units? What are their exact stats, what are their roles, how often will you encounter them in battle?
and are there any more new units exept for the ones we saw at the profile page?

I heard there would be some patch which is going to enable the ability to deselect doctrine abilities and advantages without refund of pp. Is this true? When will this happen?
