Isn't 240 fuel a bit expensive for the thing? Sure the Petard can gimp infantry like no other but so far I've only manage to kill mg42 consistently. Anyone decent is going to start moving as soon they see it lumping toward you. Even the Pak can unpack and move away fast enough to avoid the petard, and I've had a pak surviving a direct hit before too.

once you miss it's a dead weight for over 2 minute while the ability recharge. Hobart's funnies cuts down the reload time but it's still a long wait.

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. However, this is not necessarily a good idea. It is hard to be sure where they are going to land, and it could be dangerous sitting under them as they fly overhead. -- RFC 1925

Definitely not. It's probably the unit I fear most as axis. And for some reason even when I try to dodge the round while moving it has always gibbed whatever I had (4-man shreck/pak/4-man LMG etc.)

It's pretty much the best mobile arty piece in the game, better than the cally because a direct hit will gib a single squad and anything near it.

maybe a little to expensive fuel wise tho.

Maybe they should equipt it with rapid fire (and able to move while doiong so)? Sound familier?

Maybe the axis could get fireup infantry with super health and lazors and blob them around.

Too be honest i find its amazing at defending an ally, as they are usually distracted by the battle they don't have the time to react.

which means the AVRE is only really effective if your enemy is distracted. The same can be said for any unit really.

Right now is the AVRE actually worth 410mp 240 fuel?
It's pretty much useless against light vehicle (the victim would have to be drunk) and tank ( the round still do damage but you have to get in close. All the tanks can kite a churchill beside the King tiger).

The only unit the AVRE can consistently hit are mg42. Even a pak can out run the petard rounds. Sometime you get lucky and gib a running blob but it's easy to miss and then you're screw. The turret rotation is slow and it even have to take a few seconds to elevate the cannon nose.

The closest equivalent I can think of is the stuh. The stuh sucks against building but it's great against normal infantry. (you use the 81mm if the allies is packing mg/atg.)

AVRE should be able to 1 hit paks and nebels.

does it blow hedges and tanktraps in 1 hit?

dont aim at the enemy, but behind them...you should get some kills most of the time...since when they see you aiming, they will probably gonna start moving back...bam,u hit them...

guys mayb the thing to do is support it and not just use the tank outright,
Lob a round on supressed inf , or even the sheer fact of the AVRE moving near the blob will force the retreat..

The main use of the AVRE is fear, Is he going to shoot ?? Or not .

Tho i will admit its a bit costly on the fuel side for a churchill mortar...
Decrease the fuel by 40 ?

this is actually a good suggestion.
It could crush them if it wanted to anyways, why not let it blow em up

I don't like the idea of using it as blob control as it does a better job (at least from my perspective) blowing up occupied buildings and unsupported support weapons in preparation for an advance. A small decrease in price would make it more attractive to players who are still on their way to crocs though.

edit: it does 1 hit nebels, but not paks.

this makes the other churchils simply better at fighting paks since they can actually destroy the gun instead of allowing the enemy to recrew it again coz u need to recharge.

If you want to hit a squad of infantry why not use an MG with instant suppression fire first?  Whether you fire or not, the sight of an approaching AVRE on a pinned squad will make most players retreat instantaneously.

AVRE is horrid vs pinned units, it does no damage against them.

You can use an AVRE to change a battle withoput even using an AVRE. I've driven up to infantry or vetted paks so many times just turned right at them(so there is no turret traverse) and the person backs off or retreats because of the threat of instant annihilation. Not only that but between vet and hobarts funnies the recharge is so low and the range is good. Hitting moving units is an art but killing an HMG in a house is simple enough.

It's basic gameplay to have your atg sitting on the rear of your line to take advantage of its long range.

If the axis was scouting properly the churchill would have been shot as it was driving up to the pak. If the enemy simply back away it's a lose for the brit because the AVRE is most likely hurting and the axis simply lost a position. You can say that's enough, but it is really worth investing 410mp 240fuel just for that?

Hobart's funnies is a t3 unlocks to begin with, and the AVRE would still take over a minute to recharge with the bonus. A unit shouldn't depend on veterancy to make it useful, and there's the fact you can count the number of vetted AVRE in existence on one hand. (half a hand if you just include vet 2/3).

Lastly a vet3 AVRE with hobart's funnies would still take at least a minute to recharge, and this is as fast as you can go.

A minute is a pretty short time frame considering what it can do in a single shot. decrew a Flak. a Pak. A house. kill a squad. And they are rarely in harms way if you use them correctly. furthermore for 8 population having a 900hp AT sponge on the field is a good bargain. Furthermore should you have hull down you increase the effectiveness of anyone nearby
