Ok, so my computers hdd finally gave out yesterday and i've got a CD-R disk with Win XP Pro SP 2 on it but it doesn't seem to have any boot files because it's not recognized when I boot it up. I'm having issues trying to figure out how to make a Boot CD, nothing i've read makes sense to me, or maybe i'm just being mentally lazy i dunno. I tried to put a win 7 iso on a dvd-r but my dad's stupid computer has only 512mb and restarts halfway through so that's out Sad

Basically, i need help either to figure out a way to boot my new harddrive so i can install xp from my drive (then i'll update to win 7 later Cheesy). Anybody know how to make a boot cd, or heck even make it so i can boot from a floppy?

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

There should be a website that gives you bootfiles which i can't remember, i tried googling a bit but i find only untrusting black and purple contrast websites..

Anyway, if its a xp cd you got when you first bought your pc it shouldn't really be a problem to boot it, might be the dvd drive thats wrong my friend had to buy a new dvd rom for that to work for some time ago..

Anyway, i recommend you to ask here www.techguy.com i used it 2-4 times i think they would have the answer especially to this topic.. you might even find a guy with the same problem as you.

The cd should come ready to be run in bootmode...

You just need a program that can burn the CD in bootmode like MagicIso or PowerIso either one will work.
