There was an ability difference that necessitated a separate Grenadier entity. Their names could have just been Grenadier and no one except devs would have known. The ability that required the change no longer exists but depending on what makes the draft for Terror they might still serve a purpose.
Either way with the rework we'll probably just rename them back to Grenadiers because names are irrelevant

terror assault! a V1 grows out of the ground below your squad like a carrot. the squad jumps on the V1 and drives it into the enemy!
this ability is free ofcourse and comes on every volks squad, gren squad and pio squad.

Terror Assault can work but it needs to be more then just the defensive bonuses that Assault gives. If it was similar to BAR suppression it would probably be pretty good. Dual LMG's with FotM and increased Suppression... mmmmm tasty
