My pc is dead...

last night i came out to the pc and noticed it was just locked up, no keyboard, no mouse.. but the screen was still up and heard the pc on.

so after unable to get it to do anything, i pressed the power button to turn it off.

i then pressed again to turn it on and nothing.  I checked cables, took memory out, video card out etc.. but it will not turn on, even when i had issues i would always at least hear the power supply turn on.  i can unplug the power cable, and plug it back in, when i try to turn on then i will hear a small noise like its trying to boot, but does nothing. also i would see the video card light and nic card light on even when the pc was off, but now i see nothing?

so, i think its either the powersupply or the motherboard?

what do you think? any ideas?

If your keyboard and mouse are dead and lights on the MObo are not showing when they should (when the pc is powered down) then it's most likely a dead mobo.

Do you get any response from your PC on boot up? Like clicking noises?

I know how you feel mgallun, my PC seems to do the same thing once a year or just to give me a heart attack, but it's always turned back on when I let it sit for a day or so.

Powersupply is most likely dead, i would always first check / change it.
Rarely mb or gpu dies.

so if a PS dies it will still give you the little power standby light on the board?

When ps is dying, it can give you any kind of errors and pain in the a$$.
Its easy and cheap to replace and its the most common thing to broke in pc.

maybe that would explain why i had to reboot before each game, if i had my pc on a bit, and then joined a game as it was loading it got to a point right before it would load game and my pc just rebooted, after the reboot i could join a game fine.
