I have received a progress report from high command. I very excited to announce substantial work has been done on the War Map.

The Boss has given me permission to post this.

Here is the first 4 weeks progress report, and plan for the next month (till the 18th):

Module / Requirement planning
Duration: 4th Nov - 13th Nov
- Planned the global and sector map particulars.
What goes where, what variables etc need to be sent / recieved / updated.
Basic GUI design.

- Modulised the global map (warmap)
Coding term for 'Planning the building blocks' Wink

- Identified [basic] actions that can be done on the global map
Eg, Deploy comany, Increase intel, 'Activate' for the turn, Suggest invasion plans etc

- Identified Warmap turn sequencing
Created the final ruleset for how sectors can behave - contested, in control, being 'taken over', what happens to the players when in a sector that they just lost etc.

- Basic 'Intel' and 'Spying' mechanics planned out
A system where playing one faction only allows you certain actions (for that faction), yet also allows you to play games for the other side, and giving 'Spy' type actions you can use to benefit 'your' faction.

- Turn recording system identified
Each turn will be 'recorded' in such a way that people will be able to view past turns and see the outcome.

Initial Warmap page construction
Duration: 14th Nov - 19th Nov (Delayed due to doctrine rework coding)
- Global Map display
Global map can now display the map image, sectors and routes between sectors.

- Action buttons
Actions that can be displayed on the global level
[Delayed]

- Warpage chat
A factional / global chat system that also shows battleroom chat
[Delayed]

Future Milestones

Sector Display
Duration: 20th Nov - 26th Nov
Show terrain slots, Reinforcements, Units

Action Processing
Duration: 27th Nov - 3rd Dec
Map actions, Sector actions, Turn processing

Card / Abilities
Duration: 4th Dec - 10th Dec
Bonus card actions, Assignment of cards/abilities, Scar-code module planning

Troubleshooting / Betatest phase (1 week)
Duration: 11th Dec - 17th Dec
Live test

I think EiRRMoD deserves a hooah for all his hard work.

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

Haha I've been working pretty much non-stop on the doctrines. So far, its taken me on average between 18-24 hours each doctrine. Sad

Well the difference then was that the doctrines were a lot simpler (one buff on a few units) - not the plethora of multi-buffs thats now been concocted ;P
