Yea, the idea being that the bomber would extend the range of it's own escorts.

Kind of a failed logic though isn't it? So you get them farther away, but they can't land on the plane, so where do they land? Let's hope they thought of that before trying to cross an ocean.....lol |

They're Russian, they really didn't care too much what happened to the pilots after the mission was accomplished. I'm sure they had orders to attempt a safe landing or something and make their way back to base from there. |

If you liked the BT, ur gonna love the USS Macon and Akron.  2 Legit true airborne aircraft carriers. Each carried a few aircraft that could both take off and even land in-air! Sure it was a bit...tricky landing on a flying airship, especially with WW1 era aircraft and it was less of a landing and more of a controlled crash. Sadly the first one to be built only sailed around for about 2 years before crashing and killing most of the crew, including the leading proponent of these ships; Rear Admiral Moffett. |
