As someone in the middle of this, I'll tell you right now; Climate change had zero to do with this. Situation is pretty bad, but nothing we can't handle up here in Queensland. Everything is being handled professionally and most if not all people inside the flood zone have been evacuated. Clean up will take weeks, but we'll get there; we're Australians.

I looked it up. Whatever I found said it was the seasonal monsoon that hit some kind of pressure system?
Kind alike how hurricanes are getting out of hand in the U.S. Cant really think of anything else aside from earthquakes that would cause a massive flood like that.

Um, an underwater earthquake can and will cause a Tsunami impacting shorelines miles away (which will cause floods) Time Australia (and the world) starts acting on climate change
Biggest thing about 'climate change' is that every time science 'proves' were screwing the planet is how they always say. "This type of change hasn't been seen in over 400 000 years" Meaning its happened before, its happening now and it will happen again, its natural, the climate cycles like the seasons and 'green' companies are making a killing off of the fear mongering

It's not a Tsunami or earthquake. What happened was basically, it's been raining so much for the last month or so that the ground is so soaked that it can't hold any more water, so the the rivers burst their banks and flood the towns. The damn that was supposed to catch most if not all the flood waters reached nearly 200% Capacity and they had to release water or risk the damn being damaged (which would result in more flooding) couple that with freak rains in the Hills (over 700 meters above sea level) that caused flash flooding to occur and add the the wet, it basically was just a bunch of bad dice rolls. Malgoroth, Unlike New Orleans, our governments jump straight into this from the get go. Force evacuations, ect. I'm fine, not in the flood path.

I know what happened and that it wasn't an earthquake, was just saying that earthquakes can cause floods like that.

Don't get me started on the colossal fuck up that was FEMAs response to Katrina... well over 1000 dead... man, the U.S. has natural disasters and that shit is just not supposed to happen here in this day and age. But somehow...

Half our Country's underwater, the other half is on fire. Australia has a twisted sort of weather sometimes.
I was talking to some French friends of mine over the phone about this yesterday. They really couldn't quite get their heads around the sheer scale of the flooding until I pointed out that we've declared an area approximately the size of France as a full-blown disaster zone.
