The moment you make a sound everything in the vicinity goes quiet. The absence of sound is as dead a giveaway as the deafening roar.

Pure Hollywood, while yes if you make a sound things may go quiet but generally it would have to be a big enough sound to make enough things go quiet to make that void. This also just doesn't happen in places that are even half used to people even then you still have crickets and other things which just don't give a fuck.

Every game and Hollywood movie talks about the entire woods going quiet, but it takes a gunshot to do that and even then you still got some things which don't care, a couple broken twigs might cause a few birds to rise up, and in your examples suddenly guards start screaming "Americans in the woods!" When in reality it was just a deer.

I've spent alot of time walking around in the woods doing exactly what we're discussing, I'm speaking from experience not from movie watching. So unless I happen to frequent the most deserted places in Canada we clearly life in different dimensions.

And yeah I've had several situations where the noise in the wood was wildlife. I've stumbled into my share of foxes and deer and bear and wild turkey(funny shit) but I've reacted to the noises in the same way I would if I suspected it was people and just as many times it's worked to good effect.

Good on you ranger rick, so what do you do?

Because it sounds like your experience comes from remote ass parts of Canada where the wildlife sees human life maybe once a year, not from areas that see regular human life along the lines of what we are talking about.

Also there is a huge difference between someone walking and someone skilled sneaking. Also its called learning how to walk without making a sound (its not hard, just look where your stepping and move carefully) and no scent works wonders in not disturbing the wildlife.

Its not that hard to get to know the wildlife, just go camping for a month in a camp area/park it will blow your mind.

If not, then I wipe, then someone gets something they shouldn't, then it gets abused, then the shit hits the fan and then I ban shab.

Nope, we can end the pissing match till one of us runs dry.

I've worked in remote areas and developed areas. I've been in the wild in every province except for Newfoundland. This is feeling more and more like your talking out your ass or tooting your own horn.  I've done exactly what we're discussing before and it's no cakewalk. Maybe someday when I've reached your level of bullshit I too can levitate on the hot gas spouting from my anus.

Now that I too have past the personal attack barrier maybe you can stop arguing with me and go spend a week in the wood tracking someone; let me know how it goes.
