HA HA yeah Steam released the Beta version. Not the dev's fault typically. Steam gets versions sent to them all the time and they do the uploading. Chances are it was a slip on their end.

Also, here is a link to the Online manual if you need to learn while downloading.

Got a chance to talk to Chris from Swords of the Stars (he owns the studio that develops the game) was a pretty interesting discussion. Got an inside scoop into what they were planning for SotS II.

He was offering promo codes, but I didn't want to look cheap so I didn't ask for any... Sad wish I did...

Anyhow, really great studio I'll try and get some goods next time for you guys Tongue

Sadly... the "Real" Version steam put out is actually pretty much unplayable, there aint even an options menu anymore.
I stuck with it and got into a battle, well, yeah... turned out ships were immortal and many of the sound effects are broken?

I kinda hope they got the wrong version again, or something else went wrong, because this release is downright... well, it looks like an alpha.

All that said, I do trust kerberos as they had an insane ammount of support for sots1 and the "Final" product turned out to be downright amazing, if anyone here played sots1 at launch it was... sort of like this, lol...

So anyway, I bet they'll fix it, just sad that the game is in this state as it stands.

That sucks because I was interested in this game but if it's broken right now then I'll hold off until they fix it.

Yeah, they epic failed all over this Launch day. I'd give it a week and see where they are at. it should be in a fully playable state by week 2 at least.

Also, knowing the company I expect there might be some sort of free content for fucking up so badly.

Yeah. I'm torn now. I know they will make the game good. but how long will it take? Do I pick up BF3 in the interim or get SotS2 anyway and pray for quick patches?

Decisions...

Just buy Bf3 and wait a month and then buy Sots2, sots will most likely be cheaper too then.

you can allso then play with Rifle&Co

Barrlefield is pretty awesome, we should really try and get 2 full squads going.

Living the synergy between the classes. Recon is actually a great scout even if you aren't sniping.

As Recon should be AmPm. Games place too much emphasis on Snipers these days. The role difference between Snipers and Marksmen are almost as varied as the differences between Football and American Football.

I mostly hate 'Snipers' in FPS games because all the no talent hack scrubs think it means "Camp this hill not near anything important and shoot people who happen to wander this way" So I'm glad that the Recon class has elements other then camper douchebaggery.

For instance, I use a 4x ACOG on my SKS with a forgrip and laser sight for up close, its a battle rifle, and I use it to take out opponents usually under 100 in game units from me. The rest of my build is extra ammo, respawn point and recon done or painter.

The Kerberos forums themselves have been down for 2 straight days. The Paradox forums are all anger and apologies.

I know they will turn it into a playable product in short order. However it took a few expansions to get SotS 1 into a really good state.
