Hitchens didn't coin that expression, George W Bush did.
Right can I have a source for it. Interested now. Why I love learning.

and i agree ampm. i'm more spiritual than religious. i have beliefs but they're not baseless (imo)
i abhor religion and tradition. certain religions preach that you have to do certain practices or rituals to be close to God. the new testament preaches intimacy with God and in itself goes against religion (read the gospels and how jesus harps on the relgious leaders and their traditions).
true christianity teaches getting to know Him, not hail mary's, having to go door to door with papers to get in, priests praying you into heaven, etc.
i'm the last person to be religious, i go to church cuz i enjoy it, not because i feel like i need to or else i'm going to hell. Freedom, not bondage is what it's about and relgion takes away freedom.
anyway i'm done on this. I dont want it to look like i'm arguing, just stating how i feel and what i believe, thats all.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

Blame people for their faults, not the tools
Religion is not so much a tool. And you can't blame people for their actions if they were themselves brainwashed as young.

Sharks are not monsters Henley, they are cute, cuddly and misunderstood. They love humans. sometimes they love TOO much. They love people so much that sometimes their kisses separate people into two flailing pieces which are consumed by other sharks in a frenzy of peace and joy.

Hmm... so let me get this straight... It's not an ok argument to say that the universe created itself.... but it is an ok argument to say that god created himself...
It's ok for god to have always existed but not ok for the universe to have always existed?

From the theories that I read I thought that science explained how the universe began, not how it was created. To say that the universe is created is starting to go into philosophy. Also I have never seen a paper or proper scientific study to show and prove that the universe was designed or created.

Gotta love when Christian fundamentalist start to talk about evolution and then include the origin of life and the creation of the universe as if they were all the same thing ^^

No, I'm agreeing with what you said and then talked about something similar. Which was Christians getting science mixed up (such as confusing the big bang theory with the creation of the universe).

one has to be true. its just hard for me to fathom something creating itself. either god always existed or the universe always existed and we know scientifically the universe came from something.

Im sorry, but please give me a source. I never heard anything of the like. Even the theory of big bang does not claim a creation event happening. It describes a early development of the universe.
