Welcome to the EIRR Quickstart Tutorial. This tutorial will teach you only the essentials you need to play a match of EIRR as fast as possible.

Step 2: Install EIRR

Run EIRR_Setup.exe. Once you get to this page enter the folder in which you have company of heroes installed.

Company of heroes installation paths:
          C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch

TIP: When the installer asks you to include the camera zoom modification DO IT. It makes the game much easier to play.
If you fail to install zoom mod but want it anyway, download zoommod here
place the file in C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\EuropeInRuins\Archives for it to work

Step 3: Run Autoupdater.exe

NOTE: This step can be circumvented for 99% of users. Simply find the AutoUpdater in your base Company of Heroes Relaunch folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch) and run it.

The installation should have left a shortcut on your desktop. Right click it and run it as Administrator.

If the shortcut isn't there or you get an error do the following:
Go to the folder where you just installed the mod. look for a file called Autoupdater.exe This file should be located in the same folder as RelicCOH.exe

If it isn't move Autoupdater.exe and all the other files the installation created to the same folder as RelicCOH.exe is manually.
Next, make a shortcut of Autoupdater.exe on your desktop, right click it and run it as Administrator. Make sure you always run it as Administrator.

Step 4: Logging in to the EIRRLauncher

When the autoupdater is done downloading all its files it should launch the EIRRLauncher. There you find a login screen.
To be able to log in you must first create a launcher account. To do so, click on the "register for the launcher" button on the right side which will take you to a registration form.

Once youve given your username and password, click finalise and then back.

You should now be able to log in to the launcher and set up your profile.

Step 5: Making a Launcher profile

Once you are logged in to the EIRRLauncher you must create a new profile. Click the + sign on the left of the profile selection screen to do so. Now you are asked to enter your name. This name should be your steam profile name. It is case sensitive. If your steam name is for example 'newplayer' then it has to be 'newplayer' on Steam as well (and not NewPlayer).

Once you have entered your name press ENTER on your keyboard and press the + sign again. then select your race and doctrine.

TIP: If your EIRRLauncher seems to freeze very often while for example retrieving company this is most likely caused by your AVAST antivirus web shield. If you have AVAST Antivirus open it, go to the real-time shields menu and disable the web shield before you start the EIRRLauncher.

Step 6: Making a company

This step is available in video format. In the video everything is explained in more detail. Click here to watch the video tutorial.

Now the fun begins. It is time to create your army. First click on the Doctrine tab. Here you unlock your doctrine specific units, offmaps and bonuses. after each battle you gain points to unlock more, but you should start with some points. try to select a few boxes you like. be careful for what you choose though, you can't unlock everything. even with 10000 points. Once you are done press ACCEPT CHANGES. to deselect unlocks right click them.

Now go to the Company tab. Here you create your army. Building it is quite easy. Just drag & drop the unit icons to the boxes below. Make sure to buy upgrades for your units too. If you want to delete a unit drag it to the retire unit box on the right top. On the left bottom are some buttons which allows you to switch between different unit box tabs. In-game you select these tabs the way you would select your barracks, wsc, motorpool or tank depo.
You will only learn how to build a perfect company by playing a lot of games, but some of the core rules of building a company are:
- Have one box at 25 population. This box will contain the units you start the game with since at the start of a game you have 25 pop.
- All the other boxes should be around 8-12 population. The reason for this is that every box you call in increases the delay the next call in arrives by 5 seconds. 8-12 pop is the balanced level.
- Build your company with the following thought: In the game you always want to have two sources of AT on the field as a minimum. (ATG + panzerschreck for example) + You always want to have one source of indirect fire (mortar, sniper, howitzer) or a tank/armored vehicle on the field.
- Spend all of your resources
Once you are done press ACCEPT CHANGES

Step 7: Joining a battle

This step is available in video format. In the video everything is explained in more detail. Click here to watch the video tutorial.

You are now ready to play a game. Go to the battle tab and look for a battle on the left top which is Creating. Click it, look if there is room for your race and then click JOIN BATTLE. If there are no available battles create your own by pressing CREATE BATTLE.

Once the battle lobby is full click on READY FOR SUPPLIES on the right bottom of the screen. If icons appear at the advantages box above see if you can spend some points on buying those advantages. When everyone has pressed READY FOR SUPPLIES click READY TO LAUNCH. Once everyone is ready the launch button should activate and you can click it. Make sure Company of Heroes itself is NOT running before you press LAUNCH.

Step 8: Joining the game in Company of Heroes

After you pressed LAUNCH the EIRRClient should automatically start Company of Heroes. At the relic online profile selection screen pick the profile which has the same name as your EIRRLauncher profile name. Then go to MULTIPLAYER in the Company of Heroes menu, activate filters but make sure the filters themselves are empty, and then join the lobby one of the players in your game has hosted.

Step 9: Playing the game

This step is available in video format. In the video everything is explained in more detail. Click here to watch the video tutorial.

The game has started. On the right bottom of the screen you should see some boxes. Those are the call in boxes you created earlier in the launcher. Start by bringing out your 25 population box and begin the fight. Your mission is to capture as much territory as possible because this increases your population and eventually lets you win the game. But also kill as much as you can of the enemy's forces and lose as little of your own. If you run out of call ins you are annihilated and the game is over for you. If you have 0 units on the field you will surrender automatically within 60 seconds. So make sure you keep spawning in those call ins.

Retreating a unit causes it to go off the field. You won't be able to use that unit anymore for that battle anymore then. So only retreat to preserve veterancy or deny kills to the enemy!

Do not drop out of the game before you are annihilated or surrendered because if you do you will break the game and everyone has played for nothing.

Step 10: Post game company management

Once the game is over close down Company of Heroes. The launcher should pop back up and the game should be disappeared from the battle browser. If it hasn't this is probably because someone dropped ingame before he was annihilated or surrendered. You are now stuck in that game. To force it out press the red X on the bottom right of the lobby box. Players from both teams need to do this.

Once the game is disappeared from the battle browser you can go back to your company tab. All the units that gained veterancy ingame still have their veterancy with them and will start with that veterancy level the next game. Any units that died need to be rebought. You also gained some PP and XP from the game. To track your XP go to the profile tab. The gained PP can now be spend at the doctrine tab.
