i think that the original command and conquer or red alert is the best rts made, i still go back and play them every now and again still.

Company of heroes is certainly a great game up close to them though

Trouble is, when I play other games I just can't help thinking 'there is something missing...'

I can't even play classic RTS' anymore without thinking it sucks that there's no cover or advanced combat system in place Smiley.

C&C Generals was nice though, Red Alert 2 was fun, never liked Tiberium Sun series though.
Never liked StarCraft, Warcraft, etc Sad.

WTF are all of you smoking?  Your comparing a RTS to a FPS?  HTF can you even start to compare the 2 genre's?

So I will say again what I said before...FPS's BELONG on the PC, NOT the console.

RTS's belong on the PC NOT the console.

The reaction time a FPS player has with a mouse and keyboard is far greater than that of a gamepad.

Halo 3>COH.

Campaign: better than COH.
Multiplayer: better than COH. I have no clue what you've been smoking. MOH: Airborne, perhaps?
Graphics: ditto.
AI: Depends. On easy and normal, it isn't that great. But on Heroic and Legendary...
Community: more people than COH.
Tech Support: it doesn't need tech support. Compared to COH...

I fail to see why COH is better than Halo 3. Journalists didn't predict a market slump due to OF sales. COH didn't set any records in units sold/money made.

You guys are right comparing a console FPS to a RTS is pointless, aside from that there is no saving Acker unfortunately.

WIC was fun. Just really different from COH. Sort of like CC...

I play Starcraft when I want to play something with predictable encounters like Chess. Without the randomness of COH.

COH...I play because it is fun. And the unit micro is awesome in its own way.

Yea you've been working on it for AGES but still haven't released even a single screenshot.
In the time it's taking you to create this map, which won't even be fully splatted & splined, I could've completed 2 Wink.

Still, CoH is the best RTS I've ever played, and has kept me hooked for nearly a year (but that is EiR as well).

That's it? Only a year? Lame.

When i first played starcraft, I was hooked to it for at least two years, and I was addicted to Red Orchestra, (an FPS) for a year at least.

Don't get me started on Dawn of War. I practically played that game every day for three years.

Never liked Red Orchestra either.
Realism was cool but gameplay & Graphics suffered imho.

DoW got boring for me after like 3 months. Might be because I was just playing against the AI though.

I'll agree on that, but I think if they manage to make their UE3 version in the next 2-3 years it'll be a much better game.

Oh and compact, that's exactly the reason you got bored. The DoW mp was actually in some ways a hell of a lot more fun than CoH. It was really balanced, REALLY unique for its time, and all action. Kept me addicted straight through WA. I was playing up til CoH came out.
